Just wondering how hard it is to change the buttons and sticks on an American cab to Sanwa parts. I would much prefer a candy cab, but depending on how the TGA auction turns out this might be my next resort. I have little to no experience as far as changing arcade parts, but am willing to learn and give it a try.

It's very simple. Just make sure you order the right kind of Sanwa buttons as there are snap in which are made for metal CPs and there are threaded ones for wood.

You might have to drill out the holes a little bit depending on what cab you have. US buttons are slightly smaller then JP ones. I would probably go with the screw in buttons as the snap in buttons don't seems sit flush on cps with an overlay on them. As far as sticks go, your gonna want to stick with sanwa jlw sticks, as those are a straight bolt on replacement for US sticks.

Awesome, thanks for the info. With swapping the parts, will I have to do some soddering or does this depend on the American cab? I have been looking at some mid 90's American cabs that I want to hook my MVS up to.

Just use quick disconnects. Soldering becomes a pain in the ass if the button ever breaks and needs to be replaced. If your using JP buttons with US style quick disconnects, you will have to crimp them a bit so they sit snug on the JP button terminals. Most cabs will already be wired with he quick disconnects so all you should have to do is crimp them and be done.

Make sure your panel is thin enough to accept Japanese buttons. Most American older control panels are made of wood so you have to worry about the thickness. If your control panel is already metal, then there's no worries.

Interesting topic, what about buying Sanwa sticks and buttons for a Dynamo 33?
Any difference guys?

Personally I see or feel no difference in Sanwa buttons when conpared to Seitmitsu's or Happs. Joysticks are one thing but buttons... IMO no difference.

I guess Sanwa buttons and sticks will fit in dedicated Neo cab with no problems?

You will have to drill the holes out to 30 mm, but other then that they will fit fine as long as you have the original overlay, and not a repro sandwiched under plexi.

Also, if doing this mod on a wood cp you would be better of recessing the wood for the sticks and buttons. I dont think the shafts on the JLWs are long enough for thicker wood panels. I could be wrong though.
