I love it, especially when you go into the dips and turn two player simultaneous on (then the level checkpoints turn off and you continue where you died). It has great retro-3d graphics, fantastic sound, and some of the most interesting visuals ever seen in a shooting game. I give it an 8/10.
Go into the soft dip switch menu (on an MVS you press the test button, I am not sure what you will have to do) From there you can choose viewpoint and you will see all your soft dip switch settings. The 2p Simultaneous can just be set to "yes" here.
Viewpoint has always been one of my favorite shooters. I probably played it more then any neo game, years ago at the arcades before I bought it. After playing so much, I would think I would have mastered it, but hell no. I'd give the game a 10, but the frustration factor for me at times knocks it down to 9. I've had every port of it that was ever released. I was so excited when they were going to make a remake for N64, fuckers canceled it.
edit: I cant freaking type..

Viewpoint is 8/10 IMHO. It takes a backseat only to Pulstar, Blazing Star, Twinkle Star Sprites and maybe Strikers 1945, but it's much less expensive to buy on AES. It is probably the best affordable shooter on the Neo. Great bang for your buck or pound sterling. The music is amazing for a cart. The visuals are like Zaxxon but much better and the control is smooth and responsive. It is hard but you can use 2P simultaneous mode with debug chip as stated before or use a memory card. Grab one if you can stand a challenge!
Thanks alot for your reviews, ive now sent off for a copy,i tracked one down second hand
(got box, insert and manual) for £58,which is probably a bargain for this game.Ill have to wait and see what condition its in.
If you have the debug chip on your AES this game is interesting because you play with two players.if you don't prepare yourself for many hours of stress.
Nah,im not technicaly minded or willing to piss about with the inside of my system with a debug bios.I dont know anywhere in england that will do it either.
I got my copy of viewpoint, and its a wicked game but definatly a hard kind of wicked,in my first few plays i didnt even get past the first stage boss and that was on easy, its easy to control but definatly requires a bucket load of patience and skill.
I got it for £58 and it was in virtually mint condition,no cracks in case inner plastic, mint manual hardly any marks on cart.
brilliant stuff.
I liked Viewpoint, and the original Neo Geo version is, of course, the best one out. Don't settle for any of those crappy ports to the other systems like PSX and Genesis (UGH!). If you're willing to hunt it down and pick it up, and you're a true shooter freak, definitely go for it. But be warned, the game is a bitch, but it's a blast!
