I'm a lazy ass who will not do research.

Is it possible for some tech mofo to swap the internals of a Neo CD to abolish load times? Like put in some high speed drive or something?

Also why hasn't anyone made an all-in-one enclosure that houses both the AES and CD systems? Toss in a Phantom and you have the best of all three worlds. Instead of conversions and homebrews and shit someone should be working on this monster. It could be like 3 feet tall and weigh 40 lbs.

...unless you know how to decode, interpret and modify a BIOS...

Impossible.

Plus, I think the pin-out is proprietary.

Someone has already swapped out a Neo CD drive for a Saturn 8x drive.. and it made a negligible difference.

Hmm if I remember correctly doesn't the CDZ simply have more RAM and not a faster drive?

Why would a Saturn 8x drive be possible but not something else? Does the system BIOS in the CD system prevent faster load times?

I still like my idea of giving it like a gig of ram and let it load the entire game into that buttrock

1) Double the controller cache memory.
2) Yes

The saturn only has a 2x drive, but it wouldn't matter if it was a 52x as the neo geo cd controller/bios will only operate at 1x

It would still be able to take advantage of the bigger cache, that would allow faster loading, even if it was only at 1x.
