Anything I need to be aware of? It's a dual bios system, and I'll probably just get radiant silvergun for now.

Just wondering if there's any common problems or unfixable stuff (like CPS-III batteries)

There aren't any suicide batteries or anything of the sort w/the ST-V. It's a cool little system and the carts don't take up much room.

I agree with Madman, interesting little system, lots of interesting game titles to choose from. My only gripe is that the carts can be a little difficult to pull free from the board sometimes, because of the little plastic retention thingy it has.

yeah, the carts are a bit of a pain to swap in and out, and if you get RSG, get a dual bios or the JP one for sure, otherwise you are all good as far as I know.

You can always cut the gripper off.

Awesome little system and as of right now my current arcade obsession. Most of the games are easy to come by and there is a nice selection of games. As stated about you can cut the cart holder off and it makes it much easier to swap carts. If your going to get into the fighters you will need to find a kick harness...but I'm told the generic Bob Roberts cps1 kick harnesses work flawlessly with the board. The mod bios is also a great addition as you can boot mutli region carts in all three regions, and can play all games on any region board. For a nice list of releases you can check out hardmvs...they have a great stv section. Enjoy the new board and if you have any other questions you can drop me a pm and I'll attempt to help you out.

Yeah there is a common problem with the hardware few people know about which is a huge amount of mobo have the habit of not booting due to a common problem in manufacturing, the dual hitachi cpu have soldering flaws which result in pins losing contact.

Also about the dual bios, only mobo that use 27c400 and not 27c4096 can be equipped with dual bios.

Be sure to pick up Die Hard as well, still a fun game IMO.

I just got an ST-V board and it doesnt work (all I see is a white screen). I replaced the little CR2032 3V battery and still the same thing. Im trying to play Puyo Puyo Sun and I put in a multi Bios chip on it that I got off of ebay, to be able to switch the region and it still doesnt work, still a white screen. Ive heard they cant run on anything other than a 15 khz monitor, Im not sure if thats the problem or not. Im trying to get it to work in my Crowin Cab. Can anyone help? Id really like to see how it runs, Ive always wanted an ST-V.

I did insert it right. Although this is a Multi Bios chip, not a Dual Bios chip, it might still be a problem.

Can you turn the system on without a cartridge? It should have a splash screen.

Did the board do the same thing before you put the new bios in it?

I purchased a multi bios from a seller on ebay and when I got it the legs were all smush in and shit. After carefully separating all the legs on the chip it still worked, so I doubt that the bios chip is the problem.

ur probably right. Although it did do the same thing (white screen) with the regular bios. Im going to try another game when it comes in the mail to see if maybe it is the game and not the board.

Been awhile since I used mine, but the board should give you a test screen or something even without a game inserted as someone else mentioned. If it doesn't do that, putting a new cart in won't matter.

Well I tried out 2 games (Columns 97 and Puyo Puyo Sun) with the Multi bios switch, then I tried both the Regular Bios and The Multi bios without a game and Still a white screen. It should work in my Crowin Cab but no luck. Im going to try and exchange it for another, too bad the guy lives in Canada.......
