Hey everyone, I recently saw a couple of svideo/composite to hdmi upscale converters for sale on the web some say that it can upscale to 720p. I have been wanting to buy one of these to hook up my AES to my LCD, does anyone know if this is a good idea?

Why the hell would you want to convert composite to HDMI? Component to HDMI makes sense but composite yuck then converted to HDMI even yuckier.

So in short, bad idea.

I have one that converts Scart RGB to HDMI (720p).. Not sure if the device is faulty or my cables doesn't have the right resistor, the quality is really bad with thick green borders on the right.

I can only think of one situation where a composite to HDMI upscaler would be helpful and that's with Laserdisc -- and even then only with a really good deinterlacer.

It won't help you any with your Neo. Your best bet is probably to mod your Neo for component out and connect that directly to the LCD, but first make sure your LCD can handle the Neo's refresh rate.

Wow it sucks, probably have signal lag as well. I have a samsung 750 series 120hz lcd, dont really know if it would support the refresh rate if it does is there anybody that can component mod my console or is an xneo-1 a better option?

As long as you turn off the motion interpolation stuff, it shouldn't lag too horribly. Maybe there's also a game mode to enable to further turn off the TV's image processing that would help. The xneo-1 wouldn't help any. Those TVs are supposed to have very good SD support, so I think getting a component 480i connection to the TV is about as good as it's going to get without getting into exotic video processors.

Finally, remember that it's just going to look bad scaled up that far. Your best bet is to get a CRT for playing your Neo.

I greatly apologize for hijacking this thread in advance, but I cannot create any new ones right now, probably due to lack of posts here. Anyways, speaking of composite, who do I possibly talk to if I wanted to have somebody mod my AES to have composite ports on the back as I have no experience in adding my own.
