Do there exist somewhere some instructions on installing unibios on a 4-slot MVS board? Recommended materials needed? I searched on google and here and couldn't find them.

The bios is socketed. Just pry it off with a flat head screwdriver and put the unibios in its place.

slowly pry out old one with flat screwdriver or tool (work up each side a few mm at a time) then pull straight out.

Put the new one in and push straight down.... make sure the notch is aligned as shown on the board. (the instructions are also in the manual that you'll get with it or you can find on raz's site)

It's just a straight swap out.

Dude... just buy it from raz http://unibios.free.fr/

Throw him the support for all his time and hard work.

And you'll see it... don't worry.

I wanted to try my hand in programming a chip and installing myself. I would buy one from the person mentioned, but he only accepts paypal (I don't have an account, nor do I want one - got ripped off recently, among other things) and cash (he isn't in the USA like I am).

so what kind of chip/programmer do I need?

You can download unibios 2.3 from the same website if you want to go the free route. You'll need a 27c1024 eprom to burn it onto.

I have EPROMs on my site if you don't have any...

27C1024-85 will be fast enough for what you want. Don't get a -120 or above as it may be too slow.

The speed on a 2-slot stock bios is -150. Does the 4 slot need a faster speed for some reason?
