Why pick AES over MVS?

I'm certainly not trying to start a fight or get flamed I am only curious. I started with the home cart system but the games were just too expensive. Plus I wasn't terribly fond of the Joystick controllers and the Joypad controller wasn't much better. Why when the MVS carts are so much cheaper plus you can get the true arcade joysticks would so many choose the AES system? Honestly I'm just curious and would love to hear the reasons. Thanks.

The AES appeals to a select group of collectors. They are in love with the minty fresh smell that eminates from the aes case, cart and manual. To them the Aes is eye candy that they can share with their friends.

Gaming on an arcade cab is great, however nothing beats a 53" tv, some beers, pizza a couple friends and an AES.

I'm still interested in hooking up an aes to an imax projector.

On home systems, you can add debug mod and acess different stuff you can with the mvs. Also you get the home options and extras. But, I don't like the home joy sticks and mvs games are cheaper.

I prefer to play games on a TV to a arcade cab. I think it gives a better feel to the game.

I agree, but you can play mvs carts w/convertor now.
So its pretty much up to what ever floats your boat I guess.

As far as controls, The home system has the best.
You can play on whatever you like.
You want arcade sicks, buy custom ones
that are actully higher quality than
what comes on most cabs. All the best parts with custom fits.

Or play on a game pad, or the old style stick.

I like options, & the home system has it in spades, plus if i want to move it to another room, I dont have to lift those heavy ass cabs.

The cases and instructions and art work are just too cool to pass up.

I personally prefer MVS Carts, even though I own both types. I agree a homecart collection looks very sweet, especially with carts with great artwork.

MVS carts are cheap and with the use of a converter or a cabinet, you can play your favorite games for about 50%-90% off the cost of the homecart. Dats a lot o' games!

Someone mentioned the smell of a homecart, which is nice. I just bought a brand new MVS game, still in the bubble wrap and boy did it smell just as good! Ahhhhh!

Another advantage to MVS is that you don't have to worry about unreleased homecarts or MVS conversions that cost $$$$$$. Also, if you plan to have a nice cabinet in a sweet game room one day (hint), you already have the games plug in.

Hey, maybe !Arcade! can make an AES converter for your cabinet or JAMMA board. Maybe I can make some money with this. LOL

Whats with the smell, are you mental do you have a electronic smell fetish, lol.
I agree i like the overall feel of being able to get comfortable in front of a large tv and play the games, and the home cart and its games are smart.I might get one of them phantom-1 converters but people say it dont work on a machine with a serial no of less than 10,000,i dont know what the serial number on my machine is as the label is missing at the bottom.

In my case, I didn't have any other choices..because it's pretty hard to find a shop where sells MVS and games here in London...so

I say go for the AES. If you want to buy MVS games just get the converter. I like the art and cases that the AES games have. I really like my AOf2,Kof2k and Ganryu cases. The art on the case and the manual is just too cool looking to pass up.
