Uni BIOS error / Bomberman cart

Today I started getting a "write" error from Uni BIOS 2.2 and my Neo Bomberman cart in a 6-slot.

Cleaned the contacts on my Neo Bomberman cart and moved it to a different slot in my 6-slot. Ran the soft setup for all the carts again.

I still get a Uni Bios write error right after it gets to Neo Bomberman high score line 15 in attract mode.

Has been no problem until today, and working OK for close to 2 years.

The other odd thing I noticed is that in the calander set up it has today's date as 05/03/2009 , but in the soft dip setup is says 03/05/2009.

Anyways...I'm frustrated as my 1st Bomberman cart developed graphics issues (probably due to a bad solder joint), and now this.

I do have another 6-slot board I can test the cart in, bit it might take me a few days to get to it. Also has Uni Bios 2.2 I think.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

UPDATE

Ok. Moved Bomberman to my other 6-slot running Uni BIOS 2.1 and I get no errors.

Filled the empty slot in the 1st 6-slot w/ Uni BIOS 2.2 with Ultimate 11 and I get no errors.

I still need to get Bomberman working in the 1st board, as that machine is used by my daughter.

Thanks!

If you can, take a picture of the error, or write down what it all says.
That will help the experts out. Raz would be the person that could decipher it.

For the date thing, are you running it as US region or some other region?
That could explain the reversal of the month and day.

Thanks for the reply!

err... How do I tell what region I am running it as? Been a couple years since I did anything but play games on it LOL!

I did take a picture of the error screen and the calendar issue too.
Waiting to hear from a Guru so I can send picts.

I'm guessing I might need to drain the Motherboard battery, reseat the BIOS chip, or upgrade to version 3.0, or reset something on the cart? But would need help / advice.

No problem!

I'm pretty sure the region is in the BIOS setup somewhere. It's been awhile since I setup my unibios too ;)

Easiest way to do pics is make an account at like imageshack.us or some other hosting place and just plop em there and paste a link here.

Sorry I took so long to get back to you...

Ran into the following problems with Uni BIOS 2.2:

1. You advised "go into the hardware test and reset the backupRAM"

If I press the coin door SETUP/BIOS button, and go to Hardware Test, I can't find an option to "reset the backup RAM".

I read your FAQ...
The only way I seem to get into Uni BIOS is to do a "start a b c" once the machine is in attract mode. "a b c" does not work upon boot up, and I do not know how to disable the splash. I don't even know how to tell if the splash is enabled...what does it look like?
How do I disable splash?

2. "make sure you have not disabled the bootup hardware test (unibios general settings)"

I am only able to access Uni BIOS with a "start a b c" once the machine is in attract mode (as I can figure out from your FAQ). I do not see anything called "general settings" once I have accessed the Uni BIOS with a "start a b c" in attract mode.

Sorry if I am asking "noob" or retarded questions, but I am totally lost and confused at this point.

Please help!

Bob

Flip on Dip 1 and then turn the board on, you should be at a cross hatch screen. Press start until you get to the clear backup ram screen and follow the on screen instructions. IIRC it says press a+b+c to clear backup ram.

Clearing the backup RAM solved the issue, although there is now a 3 note chime that sounds when the machine turns on (attract sound is off), but I can live with that.

Thanks!

Quick bump here.

I had error when starting up Pleasure Goal, Uni Bios error 001FE026. Instead of seeing the Saurus logo coming up, it started with game playing demo with all the numbers filling up half of the screen.

Followed the instruction above from James and now no more error when running demo. (at cross hatch screen keep pushing start)

Glad I came across this thread! I was having an issue with my New Neo-Geo 6 Slot Cab playing Neo Bomberman! When the game would get to Demo mode, or I would begin playing myself, the characters would be invisible, and the Demo mode would crash the game, and begin the game as if I put a quarter in the cab when I did not, etc.. Very stage issues. So, I started the cab up, when into the cross hatch screen, hit the game start button and cycled through the menus. When I got to the game data clear screen and hit A, B, and C together, and reset the time, and then rebooted the MVS cab, I have not had a problem with the game since. I even went as far as having Billy Pitt send me 2 carts of Bomberman to see if there was an issue with the game cart, and both had the same issues. Now both carts play fine! :) Strange way to fix this problem, but, it works!

I have ALSO noticed that this fixed ALL of my NG DevTeam games working together on my 6 Slot MVS Cab! I now have Last Hope Pink Bullets in Slot 1, Fast Striker in Slot 3, Gunlord in Slot 4, Neo XYX in Slot 5, and Razion in Slot 6, and all of them function as they should, they cycle just fine when I choose game select, and when I go to the hardware test screen and change the soft dip settings, they all function as they should there as well. So, this not only fixed the issues with the NeoBomberman cart, but, it fixed all my issues that I had with getting the NGDevTeam games working together as a family in my 6 slot cab!, I will try the Last Hope Classic in Slot 2 next, and if that works as the others do, then that means that ALL the NGDevTeam games function on a 6 Slot board! Which is awesome!

This solves the age old question of "Why do some mulitslot boards work with the NGDevTeam games, and some do not?". I have also been swapping different games into different slots, and they all still work just fine! Cool! Thank you James!
