I was wondering does the neo geo cdz have a lot faster loading times then the nei geo cd. Is it worth paying double the price of a neo geo cd for a cdz?

Don't waste your good money on the CDZ. I tried one and it wasn't that much faster at all. It's really not a double speed drive it just has more memory so it accesses the CD less. I honestly didn't notice enough difference or speed increase to warrant the price. Unless you specifically just want that model. Get a cart system or mvs if you got that kind of money.

It depends on the games you play. Newer games like Last Blade are painfully slow on the CDZ (not by much as Crobie pointed out), but you'll notice a big difference in speed while playing older games like KOF '94.

That is correct. Most of the older games do in fact load faster. I prefer the CDZ because it is much smaller. The top loading and front loading system's are so BIG

I have had my CD-z for about a year, and my friend has a old front loader. The time is noticably faster, especially on games like Metal Slug! Some are still long (Samurai RPG), but are still faster on the CD-Z. Id it woth it? I would say so, but then again, I am the SNK whore!

I agree. You can get an AES (280) and a couple of nice games for the price of a NGCDZ.(450) It's to expensive. Get an AES it is soo incredibly better. Does CD have MOTW? MS3? NO LOADING? I see we understand.

it's true that the loading time is the most important problem of the CD version. The CDZ tried to solve it but without success.

I'll probably be hated for this, but the NGCD emulators on the net speed up the loading times.... so i'm told.
