Welp, I just got back from Dallas and I'm back in my comfy hoose. I ended up with 2 cabs (more on that later)
There was a LOT of junk at this auction. Pins that were 45000 years old and in 4 pieces, lots of vending machines, gumball machines (and gumballs!) and plenty of really nice pins and many cabs, but really only 10 or so that I would have considered, and plenty of classics, many of which were in almost pristine condition. I really wanted to bid on an Asteroids and a fucking C L E A N Tempest cab. Seriously, it looked like it rolled off the line a month ago. I only had $600 on me so I didn't want to spend too much on classics. I was out for a JAMMA cab and a MAME cab.
They had an awesome NFL Blitz 2000 cab with some HDD issues from what I could tell, but an easy peasy fix. Several Neos, a couple of 1 slots (one with 3 buttons, lulz), a couple of 2 Slots, though all of the Neos were beat to hell. No CP overlays, jacked up screens, etc. A really nice, clean Mortal Kombat 1 cab with a greened monitor. Someone got an SVC Chaos 1 slot in what looked like a Die Hard cab for $25 but I couldn't hear if it worked or not. I could have sworn I heard the words "ohh.. flatline" in the auctioneer's chant, but still even if it didn't work - a 1 slot MVS and a SVC Chaos cart for $25? Not bad.
I saw an XMen vs SF cab with shitty buttons but a really nice monitor. I never made it that far into the auction though, I had my 2 cabs by that point and left. A few days ago I was telling my wife that if I found a Stun Runner cab (the sit down ver) at this auction I'd spend all $600 on it if need be because I knew there would never be one. And, I didn't see one.
Until I cashed out. FACE....
PALM. Live and learn I guess. I should have paid more attention.
At any rate, I ended up with a Tekken Tag cab with a pretty good monitor and jacked buttons, but otherwise a clean cab. I found out later that it was missing it's back cover where the monitor is, but that's just MDF so I can just cut a new one for it and paint it black. Got it for $150. I figured I'd turn it into a MAME cab.
The other one, which I paid $270 for was a Demolish Fist Atomiswave cab. I've been wanting an AW for quite a while so I picked it up. Perfect monitor, buttons all work, no rot on the cab, and an Atomiswave! woot!
Because I bought these two, I wasn't able to spend any more money on that Xmen Vs SF cab, or the Tornado Cyclone II foosball table that was way in the back. I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to get that for under $300 or $400 anyway.
My biggest problem was the damn rain on the way back to ATX. Good thing I got a tarp, but the sides did get wet and the AW cab's power supply was exposed, so I'm just going to let them sit for about a week before I fire them up. Hope nothing bad happened to em. I'll post pics of the cabs later when I get them up and running.
All in all it was a cool experience (never bid at a live auction before) and though there was a lot of junkers, there were also some decent jems there, and a dream that I totally missed out on

Absolutely NO candies to speak of, but there was one Japanese game there, but it was maybe video pachinko or something else. It wasn't on when I was there, and it only had like 3 buttons to use on the front, no joysticks anywhere on the cp.
