looking at a metal slug cab with monitor issues.

I'm looking at picking up a metal slug cab for 75 bucks. The person selling it says that as you play the monitor goes dim, then dimmer, then dimmer until you can barely see it.

I haven't had to deal with monitor issues yet so just wondering what i can do to fix it. Is that type of monitor issue something you'd fix with a cap kit?

That sounds like intermittent CRT heaters, possibly a dry joint on the crt base pcb. Could be that the base socket needs reseating onto the crts pins. Also the pins may need cleaning.

When the picture fades away you will probably notice the heaters stop glowing.

Hehehe, I just let it warm up and adjusted the brightness. so far it's fine. Sweet for 75 bucks!

thats a hell of a deal. i love when i find cabs that are dead and its something easy like backdoor switch isnt working right
