Ok not strictly a 100% Neo-Geo post, but here it goes... I want to play some arcade vertical shooters (DonPachi and the like) using my Jamma setup - obviously putting my TV on the side is hot very healthy - so I thought of getting one of these:

- an old Amiga monitor (nice but so small)
- a boxed Hantarex monitor

Anyone knows if it is ok to put any of the above monitors on the side? thanks!

There should be no problem, some good info on monitor rotation here

Leave the monitor cool down (about 5-10 mins) before rotating the monitor/crt, otherwise you will have temporary colour purity problems, unless you rig up some manual degaussing set up.

I have a Commodore 1084 monitor that is constantly on its side so that I don't have to worry about degaussing. The problem may rather be air dissipation as the 1084 doesn't have air outlets/grids on its sides. But since I have removed the speakers (I get sound from external speakers as is common with superguns), their grids now serve as hot air outlets. If you plan to have really long gaming sessions however, drilling additional holes (and in the right points) would be a good idea...

The same applies to the Hantarex (I guess you're referring to the CT-EQ/3 series) although drilling holes in the case of such an expensive monitor may sound a bit crazy...
