I know it's been done with a Model 1 Sega Genesis.

Might work, but I haven't seen it done with an SNES

Its called a SuperGun. What's the point in the SNES? A SuperGun is bare bones enough - just find a way of using the SNES pads on it.

That's kinda tricky unless you don't mind hacking it around. Don't forget arcade units are direct wired, whereas SNES uses a multiplexer to compress the signals to binary. Work out how to decode the SNES signals or just bypass the multiplexer. Problem is, that'd mean installing a new lead.

It's cheaper. The theory is that you can use the RGB->SVid/Composite hardware inside the $20 console instead of buying an expensive RGB convertor.

The Neo MVS boards use the neo pads so there is no controller conversion to be done.

I was talking with Eric once about this, but we have no leads in order to contact the guy who did this... Any one know his e-mail or something?

If your using an old style SNES then it's no problem. I don't think it's possible with the new style snes though.

I'm pretty sure he just made a supergun with a Genesis 1 shell. You still gotta put all the parts in it, like the video converter etc.

He just did neat things like wire up the headphone jack, and wired the jamma's buttons to the internal controller ports of the genesis.

You're missing the main point - having to rewire the joypads. Would be a bit of hassle, if you're up for it ok.

But WHY?!?! SNES and MegaDrive (Genesis) have CUSTOM circuits. They output a DIFFERENT signal from an arcade board. Therefore, just use a SuperGun. Remember, SuperGun is virtually just a couple of connectors, and gives out an RGB signal. You'll still need an RGB > whatever convertor if you're trying this, sure. But that's not hard.

Most of you seem to have misread that - he said mvs > tv NOT AES into a cab, or monitor or anything else. You don't need an upscan convertor!
