Hello

After my recent succes in putting a Debug chip into my AES system, I've got a bit carried away and was thinking about tryng to do an MVS to AES conversion.

There are a few games I would be interested in converting - being Shock Troopers or Metal Slug.

Ehat sac carts would be required? Would these be difficult games to convert? Ie would it be a straight swop of chips or would extra wiring be required?

I have read a few threads about conversions and people mention 'jumpers' I don't know what these are or how these effect a conversion. Could anyone shed some light please?

Are the games that I am interested in, a step too far to start with and would it be better to start with something a little simpler? If so, could someone give an example of one?

Any help/advice would be much appreciated

Thanks

You would need a magical Fatal Fury 3 cart to do these conversions. It has a new style for the inserts so it would be perfect. There are people here who do conversions themselves so perhaps they can help you out. :)

Thanks

Do you know if these are difficult conversions and whether it would be worth starting with something else?

Cheers

First you have to learn how to open the damn things without breaking the pins. You can use tools but you will deface the cart. If you can do it by hand then you will have a pot mark free cart but have a greater risk of breaking the pins. I would get a dummy cart such as Fatal Fury (IE CHEAP) to figure out how to open it. There are some threads on this page about doing this. But first open an MVS cart (very easy to do - just unscrew) and take a look at the points soddered inside. You will have to remove each and every one of those. Even if you are expert it will take over an hour. Just try converting something easy - say take a World Heroes MVS and a World Heroes AES and try to switch the chips. If you can pull it off then you are on the right track. Next try a different one. Good luck! :)

Great, thanks for your help.

I have opened up AES carts before with reasonable success (I wouldn't say they were mark free), but I suppose with a little practise I'll get the hang of it!

I'll start with your example and if it all goes tragically wrong I won't have done any expensive damage!

Thanks again
