Update: 4/28/09

I got the ps2 timer and hooked it up. After setting my ps2 to rgb out the colors look great but the picture is weird on my vga monitor. The picture seems to jump all over the screen and eventually just freezes. My monitor(samsung 953bw) DOES support sync on green.

What could be the problem? Is there a way to "boost" my ps2 signal so the vga monitor will work?

It has been suggested that I would need to seperate the H and V sync from the green. How would I go about doing this?

My setup is below: PS2->Timer->CGAtoVGA->Vga Cable->Monitor.

I've got one of those cga to vga converters so I can use my lcd monitor in my cab. The thing works great(galuda looks amazing). I want to get a ps2 to jamma adapter so I can play other shooters that were ported to the ps2(gradius series, ibara, mushi). Now I know that the ps2 has trouble with vga, but in theory the "video" signal would be coming from jamma NOT the ps2. Is that correct?

In theory, would this work for me? Does anyone have any first hand experience with it?

I want to get some opinions before I spend $60 on a ps2>jamma adapter.

Thanks.

Hah? The video signals are still being pulled from the PS2.

What kind of problems does the ps2 have with vga?

Well. It doesn't do vga.

Only about %20 percent of the games work with vga.

Jamma video is output in analog RGB form. The PS2 like other consoles outputs a composite signal. You would need to use an adapter that converts the composite signal into RGB. If you have a high def cable that outputs to component then you would need an adapter to seperate the H and V sync from the green output.

My advice is for you to find an adapter if one is sold. Unless you have the technical experience to make one yourself or the aptitude and time to devote into learning how to do this.

You can buy a sync seperator from JROK, PM him on the KLOV forums.

You could build your own sync splitter circuit around a LS221N. I have a schematic I made for my snes-2-jamma if you want to try it.
