Hi everybody!
I am new here and I have just bought a Japanese AES. But I live in Spain, so I need to use a stepdown converter. This is my AC adaptor:

Well, as you know, stepdown converters have two features: voltage (V) and power (W).
The voltage conversion is 220V -> 110V, isn't it?
The problem is about the power needed. If you see the image, we can obtain the power given by the PSU:
- INPUT: 19W
- OUTPUT: 10V*1000mA= 10W

I don't know what amount of power (19W or 10W) must be given by the stepdown converter.
Thanks a lot!!

I doubt you'll even find a stepdown converter under 50 watt, so you'll be on the safe side there.

Hey, bienvenido al foro! wink Te contestare en ingles, si tienes problemas ya lo hare en castellano.

As Arakon says, the stepdown converters have a maximum power in watts, and they'll work OK as long as your required power is not superior to that maximum.

By the way, before you buy the stepdown converter, if I remember well somebody mentioned that a regular Megadrive AC adaptor will work for an AES. Can anybody confirm this? If so it definately is worth a try.

Edit: Lots of info here:

Thanks!
But, altough I couldn't find a stepdown converter with a maximun power under 50W, I still have my question... In my case, what is the max power that the stepdown converter must be able to handle: 19W (input) or 10W (output)?
I think that 19W, is this right?
Thanks a lot again!

You are not understanding it... That AC adapter wants 19W in, so if you use a stepdown converter that has a maximum of, say, 100W, then it will be OK, as 100W>19W. The only problem would be if you had a stepdown with only, say, 15W maximum, as 15W<19W you need. However, as Arakon says, you won't find a stepdown with a maximum under 50W so you don't have to worry about that.
And you are right, the relevant power here is 19W as that is what the AC needs IN, what it gets OUT to the AES doesn't matter for the stepdown.

I can be contacted at MSN at amanojacu@hotmail.com, I can explain it to you in Spanish if you want.
