I am about to scream!!! MVS issue

Ok guys,I just got in the 2 slot consolized from Fox1 this morning. i don't know what happened, but this morning I tried out Neo Driftout, Super Dodgeball, and Samauri Shodown, they all worked great. Got home at lunch and cleaned the slots and put in metal slug 5 and league bowling and the unibios gave me that weird stupid "address error" . So I put in the games from this morning that worked before. and the same error came up. I tried all 35 games and non of them worked. What do you think happened? Did Metal Slug 5 mess something up? It has the 3.0 Bios in it.... Do i need to reset the Ram? or something :conf:

BTW. the games don't even get to the Neo Geo screen, right after it shows UniBios Screen , it hits with the error

Could try resetting and also cleaning everything again.
You might have mucked up the slot when you put in a cart that wasn't totally clean. Give that a whirl and reset the backup-ram... that might do it.

i am new when it comes to dealing with mvs problems, how do i reset the back up ram?

But you can go into the test mode, then hardware test, and then there should be near the last menu (i think right before the calendar) in there a reset chance.... iirc. It will say to hit like :A:

Also clean those carts several times each (with some alcohol and q-tips) and let them fully dry.

Can also check that your carts are going through the checks ok through the universe bios menu.... see if you can play sound through the jukebox mode, etc.

If still have problems, can probably post a screen and see if Raz or someone else can hook you up with some info on that particular error.

Yeah i did that and none of them showed up NG, and they all worked on the converter on the aes i have also

Yeah.... well if you can't get it post them here and I'm sure someone might spot what's up or have some further recommendations... But I would think resetting the backup ram might do it.

I had to do that when I finished the rough build of my CMVS... granted I was getting stuck on the hatch screen...but yeah it might do the trick.

How did you clean the slot? Did you get it wet in any way?

ok i just cleaned the slots and two of my carts, now all that happens is the Unibios screen keeps coming on and then fading off. None of the button combinations will take it to another screen.....

Flip on dip 1 then turn the system on and go from there.

ok we are almost there, games are working etc. The only thing is I am trying to find what these other dip switches are for? And Metal slug 5 is working fine but when i put it into slot 1 it wouldn't work , so i put it in slot 2 and it works?

Might still need cleaning or it isn't sitting in there all the way.

BTW I got this to work after I took out the unibios and put it back in the slot. I am still wanting to reset the backup ram, i went to hard ware test and it brings up a cross hatch test screen

Yeah... you can read the details in on the hardmvs site (or directly via Fox1's link there to the pdf)... but you just hit start to get through each sub section there... like you'll then hit the hardware test iirc, then the reset, then the calendar page.

Yeah... glad to hear you are rolling again.

A GOOD cleaning of carts and a reset usually is a good bet!

COME ON!
I just had it up and running, turned it off an now after the Unibios screen it goes black and nothing else.
I ran the games in the jukebox and the sound is coming out. What do you suggest, Its the same games i was just running?

yes the cart checks are fine, just getting a black screen when leaving the unibios screen. It sees the carts in the slots and everything...

if you reset again will they work?

From Raz's site:
"If you use B+C+D to enter Test Mode right after putting a new game that hasn't already run in the system or after a BackupRAM erase, its entry in the SoftDIP screen will be currupted. You need to let games boot up at least once first so they can set up their SoftDIPs in the BackupRAM correctly. "
