MV1C Unibios install issue

Got everything together, and the board won't boot. At first I did it pin for pin, and it didn't work. Then I found out that the pin out is almost completely different, so I changed it and got no response. Then I swapped the Unibios, and it's still just the same screen. Everytime it has turned on since I started this, it boots to a color block screen and goes no further. Can it be an issue of how the bios was written?

Double check the wiring and also try connecting pins 40, 39 and 38 to +5v.

So have I but a few of them I had to and then they worked. I want to know why you need to do this sometimes.

Also test it with a stock bios just to make sure the wiring is correct. You can use the bios from any Neo MVS board, except for the 1B.

Didn't know I could swap it with a standard. Right now, the only pins that don't have anything are pin 38 and 39. I don't know if any of you have your pin sources listed, but here is the one I went from:

PCB 1024

01 ----> NC
02 ----> 28
03 ----> 27
04 ----> 26
05 ----> 25
06 ----> 24
07 ----> 23
08 ----> 22
09 ----> 21
10 ----> 02
11 ----> 11
12 ----> 20
13 ----> 19
14 ----> 10
15 ----> 18
16 ----> 09
17 ----> 17
18 ----> 08
19 ----> 16
20 ----> 07
21 ----> 40
22 ----> 15
23 ----> 06
24 ----> 14
25 ----> 05
26 ----> 13
27 ----> 04
28 ----> 12
29 ----> 03
30 ----> 30
31 ----> 01
32 ----> NC
33 ----> 37
34 ----> 36
35 ----> 35
36 ----> 34
37 ----> 33
38 ----> 32
39 ----> 31
40 ----> 29

I have nothing else connected to rom besides these.

Yup that's it, if it doesn't work after that then connect 39 and 38 to +5v. I usually just connect all 3 of them together 38, 39 and 40.

Well, I found two wires that were in the wrong places, and figured there would be more. I tore it all apart and did it over again, and now all the wires are in the right places. I also connected 38, 39, and 40 so they all had +5v, and it still doesn't work. I took a Unibios out of my 2 slot and it still does the same thing, though putting the other Unibios in this one now makes my 2 slot not boot, though i may have hit a patched trace job I did.

What other possibilities are there? seeing how nothing is bridged between pins and all wires are where they're supposed to be.

I remember one person on the forum had a problem on a 1C that turned out to be using wires that were to long.

With all the rewiring you've done, I'd be surprised if all the pads and traces are still okay. That was the problem with some of my first soldering jobs, I soldered and resoldered them to oblivion.

I think everyones first MV1C unibios mod goes awry like this all the time. Mine did. My problem was when I first did it I made a wire for each pad so when I wired it up I had to redo it and shift everything over by 1 since pin 1 was supposed to be NC and then I had to connect 38, 39 and 40 together.

Wtf? All versions are downloadable from the website.

If you mean they only seem to sell 3.0, I am sure Razoola is more than happy to burn you a 2.3. Of course I don't understand why you would want one.

According to a few of the more knowledgable members here 2.3 is more reliable for some reason.

3.0 works fine, and on that one you can disable the splash screen to make the system run much more OEM.

I'll see if I can post a video soon. Though I checked the traces on that 2 slot, and the unibios I put in there from the 1c won't boot either. I put an original in the 1C and it won't work now.

You've always been able to disable the splash screen no? on MVS anyway.

I run a 1.3 in my MVS .

:vik:

it would still be a 1.0 but the data rotted off the EPROM :spock:

I don't know why people think 2.3 is more stable than 3.0 (well maybe I do). If you get an original 3.0 you will find that its very stable (just as stable as 2.3). If you buy one from some non official person then your most likly going to run into stability problems. There are very good reasons why this is but its not due to the unibios coding, more about people editing it.
