I have a 2 slot board that I would like to get consolized - hoping to trade for the service if posible - but I maybe way off. I would pretty much like to have it set with everything - latest bios and component/composite/s video outputs.........and either powder coated or painted nicely :)

I have a 4 slot to trade for the service, possibly a one slot as well......just let me know what offers on it sound fair.

Note sure where to get the parts to do it or even the diagram on what to do :(

I have modded ps1's and Saturn's before, so I have a lil experience....but I don't know that much about arcades and the boards :(

And I wish I knew what web site to go to where I could buy the parts to do it with.

I'll walk you through it.

Only parts you need are:

+5v power supply
Power Jack
Power Switch
Video Encoder
Video and Audio jacks

Usually when you buy the video encoder it comes with the jacks you need.

This has me curious as well. I've got a 2slot that will be in my mvs cab but I wouldn't mind leaving it as still JAMMA being able to hook it up to my TV.

XX is there a place that will show the steps involved, hopefully with pictures?

Right now I'm working on a guide for the 2 slot. The guide I'm working on is for a 2 slot to be consolized using +5v only but if you want to keep yours able to play in your cab that's a simple omitting of the +5v mod.

Cool, cool.

oh wait I just re-read that. So in order to have it as JAMMA and CMVS I would have to use an external PS instead of the 5v?

I am very interested in a guide for consolizing since I want to do the same to a 2 slot. I am sure I can figure it out pretty easy.

This doesn't make sense as the 5v only mod for a CMVS doesn't prevent the board from being normally powered by the cab PSU.

Ah yes, good point MKL. I forgot that the sound amp can be powered by the +5v only mod. Is there any limitation as to the sound amplification running only +5v to a cab?

Mine seems to run just fine this way in the cab...

huh? The amplifier will be supplied with 12v from the cab PSU. The 5v mod has nothing to do with this (5v wouldn't be enough to get it to work, btw).

You have another option. You could buy a mini supergun that uses neogeo controllers for cheap. You can buy an MK II or an MK V for ntsc. The MK III and MK IV are for the PAL / SCART fans. It costs about $36. You get S-Video and composite color (MK II/V).

This is an MK III (scart) There is a wire out for 2 (4 button) controllers).

uses pc power supply (you could make your own plug)

I'm waiting on a MKV to be built. The difference here is that it has two 15pin neogeo contoller sockets onboard. So there is less wiring needed to setup. I'll post an image of it once I get it in the mail.

You can buy these on ebay. These do not have component color. But they are pretty nifty (jamma plug & play) for the money, considering you're gonna spend $50 alone on a decent video encoder. This is a good option if you plan on swapping pcb's later.

Here's a shot of the NTSC MKII, the right side has composite and s-video jacks

MKV NTSC, the upper left corner will have the neogeo controller connectors when built

Xian Xi, the guide's rad. I'm not planning on touching my s-lot right now, since it lives in my cab, but I've seen a couple for damn reasonable prices and have thought about snatching one up to consolize.

This almost looks /too/ easy, but the fact that the 2 slot has controller ports, a mem card slot and headphone jacks on board already helps a /lot/ with the consolization.
