Try different carts in slot 1 until it boots normally. Then leave that game in slot 1, put a new game in slot 2 until they both work and repeat until slot 4. 4 and 6 slots boards are picky.

Did you make sure to clean the slots and all the carts?

yeah make sure everything is clean...your first cart could have been dirty and gummed up the mvs slots too... so give them a good cleaning as well.

Also make sure the carts are sitting in the slot properly as sometimes if they are off you will get that result as well.

Does this guy have a unibios? If so you could see if you can do a cart check etc.

Also, not sure what the deal was and ended up fixing it...but I had this on a cmvs I was building and with a new unibios in there had a similar result. Cleaned carts and still same thing. Ended up resetting the ram and adjusting carts in the slot and got it. So not sure what combination ended up doing it for sure...but it's probably something simple.

[oh and did you get that second snes controller going?]

Yeah i always clean my carts when i get them and i also make sure to add some contact cleaner to the gold contacts and insert the cart over and over to clean the slot first.

But to be sure i just took some metal sand paper and folded it so its thick enough to lightly sand the contacts in the slots. I just did this to slot 1 and then again used contact cleaner afterwards.

Same thing!

Yes i did pre buy a universal bios 3.0 for this 4 slot and inserted that and the same.. I did the hardware test and all the colors are collect and both controllers are working perfectly. Even the sound test was good! Everything seems to be fine other then no games will work.

I also tried clearing the memory hittin A,B and C when it said to. I dont know how to clear the cart memory as well??

I also did the memory viewer and it showed stuff for all slots when i had games in all 4 slots.

Pisses me off that before on the other 4 slot i had a small prob of switching games and i did a search for the answer and i found some FAQ about probs with the MVS boards and i remeber seeing something say if you have a prob with only seeing the hatch test when powering up its cause of this.. but ofcourse i dont remember where i seen that??

The other 4 slot works perfectly hehe.

Oh.. Xiao. Yup i got the other one modded perfectly as well. :)

Any other ideas?? I've tried 2 offical bios in this board and also the unibios.

Hmm... can't say I have anymore ideas.... if you've reset the backup from the bios test menu that's all I have for suggestions. Sorry.

Glad to hear you got that other controller setup!

Look for broken traces or bad solder joints on the top board, especially around the 74138 ICs that do the cart switching.

Also look around the backup battery for leaks and broken traces.

*Shameless plug* if you can't fix it... lemmi have it (for a fair price)

Bingo!

MKL has it nailed. The backup battery on the bottom board has leaked and it has eaten the traces under and beside it. Those traces carry information from the Program ROMs. When those lines are damaged the system will not recognize any carts installed.

EDIT: hehe opps.. didnt see the above 2 posts.. :) Yup, i found that thread late last night in a search and wrote down all the info on the CN10 connector pin out. Tested it out this morning and quickly soldered 2 lines connecting the 2 broken traces and bamb! All good :)

Thanks man!

I just fixed my new 4 slot. :)

I found a thread here in a search with the fix! http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2704166#post2704166

Mine had 2 traces that were messed up.

A5 B7 (2)

and

B5 B9 (18)

Those are right next to each other on the CN10 connector.

Those traces were trashed by the leaking battery thats above them. I should figure out how to replace the battery so it wont be anymore damage.

After that everything worked and all 4 slots.. So i was happy. Then i found out that the sound goes crazy sometimes when i select slot 3 and 4.. even after a soft reboot the sound will be weird on boot up. Though if i just use slots 2 and 3 its fine?

Re EDIT:

Scratch that.. All is well! Cleaned the 4 slot and put it back together this time wiht the metal top and all cart slots are working solid! No sound probs like before.. So it must of been a crooked cart since the top was'nt on there keeping the carts straight.

Happy happy happy!
