Hey guys,

I'm still pretty much a noob when it comes to these units, so some help from the more knowledgeable members here would be appreciated.

I have heard back from a guy that has a 2 slot Neo Geo with a bunch of games. The Neo Geo looks great, he said that he recently did a recapping on the motherboard and from the pictures I've seen (which are in great detail), the system doesn't look like it was a road piece (if it was, it's been restored).

The games that he has are 3 count bout, Art of Fighting 1 & 2, Magician Lord, Puzzle Bobble, Windjammers, World Heroes 1, 2, and 2 Jet, Fatal Fury, Spinmaster, Stakes Winner, Samurai Shodown 2, and a gutss only Fighters History Dynamite. I've done my research and the games in total really don't seem to be worth all that much. They are all loose and in varied condition.

What do you think a reasonable offer or price level would be for all this? My thoughts were maybe 400-500, as there seem to be loaded 4 slots in the wild in fine condition for 400.

It seems to be in decent shape cosmetically. I would make sure to look over the motherboard (ask for pics if paying a visit in person can’t be arranged) and take a look at the monitor. Ask about the motherboard cap kit, I’m assuming he meant to say audio cap kit.

Not worth $500 in my opinion, and I’d stop at $400 max. I’d start around $300, and work my way up from there. Other cabs could be bought for less but it takes patience and depends on how much you want a cab. He may bring up all the games he’s including to justify a higher price, but all the games are fairly common and add up to around $100 for all of them. Hope this helps.

OK I'm confused. (this has nothing to do with the sale, OP, just fyi).

Look at the control panel. It's got a straight BCD pattern and the memory card reader slot. But that memcard slot is for a 4 slot machine.

But that's not a 4 slot cab, is it? It should have another sticker on a metal plate near the coin doors for the memory card.

Were there different versions of 2 slot cabs? Reason I ask is my two slot has the memcard slot on the cabinet AS WELL AS on the control panel, but the CP has a little metal plate that can be attached to it to close up the slot.

Nope that is a 2 slot. There are also 2 board versions for the 2 slot.

To the OP: Don't offer him $400 right out, bargain with him. You never know maybe he only wants $300 for it. I would start at $300 and work in $25 increments up to $400 until he bites.

I agree with Xian Xi. Start at $300 and work from there. If he immediately jumps up to $500 or some higher #, tell him that the games aren't worth that much to you, or at all for that matter since they are loose.

Absolute high tops I would go is $400-450, but that is just me, and ONLY after heavy negotiation. I would end up selling most of the carts though, as you can get slightly around $100-150 for all of them, but honestly in a bulk deal like that, common games don't increase value by much. Also, recapping takes nothing at all, except for parts and time, so don't let him fool you otherwise, unless he is talking about the monitor, and that's an entirely different story.

The cab looks to be in good condition and if there is no burn in on the monitor, I would see what you could hit starting at $300, and motivate him to come down, depending on what he wants. $300 is not lowball at all on that. If he immediately says $400, try $375, and he should bite pretty hard at that.

If he refuses to come down at least $400 or so, I would just pass on it. Tell him to think on it and give you a call. I promise he will either call you, or some other sucker will buy it for a stupid price. He will likely end up sitting on the thing right now, and eventually come down.

Thanks for the assist guys. I actually did go in with 400, but I don't think he was happy with w/e offers he had (it started at $1000, before he did a slight drop, which is what got me thinking he might bargain) but he says he's not selling now. Guess the hunt will continue...
