Hi all, As you can tell im a n00b and am going to be recieving my new MV-1FZ tomorrow morning. Ive had a really good read through the tech section (all 400 odd pages!) and am wanting to use my existing neogeo cd rgb cable with this. Im in the UK and have a house full of Scart TVs so that isnt going to be an issue. I am however at a loss on what pins I need to connect from the jamma connector to my 8 pin DIN socket. If someone can help me that would be great. Im also aiming to use a PC ATX PSU to provide power and have wired up all the 5v, 12v and GNDs ready. Ive also wired up 2 15 pin dsubs ready to go for use as controller ports as im aiming to use the neocd/aes/pro controllers with it.

Sorry for the long winded post! hope my questions make sense and thanks in advance to anyone who can offer help.

Hi there. Ive read your quide a couple of times and the neogeo aes/cd pinout for the 8 pin din uses pin 3 as composite video, The mvs board dosnt chuck this out does it? If I connect all but pin 3 will it work ok?

That's Xian Xi's guide.

But I don't see why not. But he would have a better answer for you than I.

I hope its as simple as that as it would be nice to be able to use a cable I already have, Also for the power to the 15 pin dsub is it simply a case of take it off the 5v jamma connection? Im going to use the jamma connection to test it 1st then my final mod will be to move all connections to the mobo of the mvs board :)

You mean for the player controls? Then you just really need +5 on there for the cd pads iirc...and yeah you can grab from any nearby +5v, just check continuity from the edge.

And what I did was similar to you... I tested things off the edge first, but instead of soldering to the edge i just connected an edge connector and then temporarily wired to the pins off that since I had a few around.

Hi again, Ive had a go at soldering the RGB out from the jamma connection and my TV is going mental and not displaying a proper picture. Any help would be appreciated! Im only wanting to use rgb as I have a PAL TV with a scart.

No, I mean what do your wire connections look like? Do you have pictures of what you are hooking up? Are you sure you video sync is connected properly?

Wiring looks ok, I put the rolling on the old TV down to it only being able to display a 50hz signal. The 2 new TVs should be fine though. Both work with my Dreamcast and PS3 without any probs.

Right, Ripped it apart and re-did the RGB wiring and it now works fine on my old crappy 14" tv but looks dog rough on my 32" LCD. The 14 has a very sharp steady pic but the 32 has dots all over it, Any idea why the LCD is such a mess??

Some of the LCDs will work awesome...some not. Sync issues I think.

I have some issues with this on my big plasma, but everything is perfect on my CRT.

You can adjust the sync a bit with caps on the line... search back through the forums and you should find it...don't remember the values off the top of my head.

Ive got some 1k and some 10k pots knocking around, do you think that would help on the sync line?

1k pot has made no difference to the dots all over the place, Ive also tried it on an old 28" CRT and everything looks great apart from there is a little bit of wobble from side to side. Any ideas what would stop that?

Is there anyone here who can help advise me on the above sync issue? Looking at my pot im not too sure if its connected properly. Can someone point me in the direction of a (very) simple diagram which shows correct installation of a pot?

A pot on the sync line wont change anything. Also post a picture of the problem.

Make sure the RGB to scart is hooked up correctly.

neotoscartdiagram2.tif

Female 8 pin "C" DIN connector.
Pinouts:
1 audio mono
2 ground
3 composite video
4 +5V DC
5 green video
6 red video
7 composite sync
8 blue video

RGB output circuit: signal comes out a CXA1145/MB3514, through a 75 ohm resistor and a coupling cap.

In fact I had a 1k pot on the sync line on my old supergun. It got a number of games to display correctly that nothing else would (not even JROK sync cleaner).

TV RGBs input is 700mVpp, JAMMA RGBs output is 2-5Vpp. If the RGB levels need to be brought down in order to display correctly, surely the sync does too (on certain sets).

Ive got mine wired up via a scart socket from the jamma edge as follows:

Pin 12 from the JAMMA to Pin 15
Pin N from the JAMMA to Pin 11
Pin 13 from the JAMMA to Pin 7
Pin P from the JAMMA to Pin 19
Pin 14 from the JAMMA to Pin 17, 13, 9 and 5
+5v from PSU to Pin 16 via a 100ohm resistor

Is this correct? I know pin 19 is correct as im connecting to a socket and not a scart directly. This is so the socket can be mounted and allow me to use a standard RGB scart cable.

Did you connect the ground to pins 4,18 and 21? 21 is the shielding, make sure you connect it. Also it should be the +5v to pin 8 and then a 180ohm resistor to 16.

Also try connecting JAMMA P to Pin 20 and see if it displays anything.
