Wonder if you guys can help me out. I heard that the regular duo has capacitor issues. How about the Duo-R and Rx, in comparison which one is better? Other then the 6 button pad that comes with the Rx, is there any hardware issues comparing the two?

I never saw an issue with either the Duo or the Duo R other than the omission of the headphone jack. The current setup I'm running now is a suitcase system with a system 3.0 card which works fine for me. Avenue 6 pads work well for me and I can't complain about their quality.

It's up to personal preference. I like the suitcase setup since the unit can take either a regular PC Engine in the dock or a Core Grafx.

I was looking at one of those also. I was thinking about buying it, but it looks a more bulky compared to the Duo R. What I like about the suitcase (interface unit) is if something go's bad like the cd-rom, you could always just replace the cd-rom unit and not have to replace the whole thing. I heard there was some sound capacitor issues with the regular duo. I want to know if the duo-r or rx have this same issue?

Exactly the reason why I got that setup.

The Cd-Rom2 units are hard to come by though. They show up every once in awhile on ebay. Maybe I will just get the interface unit.

Duo-R's and RX's are the most reliable. Get one of those and save yourself a headache with all that other crap.

What what Ive heard and read, the Duo is most suceptible to the audio issues, with the Duo-R and RX having a ton less instances than the Duo.

I like the briefcase unit myself though

briefcase units are cool, but I hear the lasers wear out on those pretty easily. Same as the Super CDROM2 attachment.

R or RX is the way to go.

I googled it and heard the same thing. There rare systems and very nice looking, but the cd unit does not last that long. The CD-Rom2 attachments are hard to come by, and when you do find one, it will usually comes together with the interface unit. I went ahead and purchased the Duo-R. Hopefully everything arrives ok from japan.
