I have a super neo29 and need to replace the sticks and buttons. Does anyone know what model these are? I have the same one as in the link. Where can I purchase some and are they hard to replace? I lifted up the CP and appears it is just a matter of swapping out the old ones with the new ones.

Hit up http://www.therealbobroberts.net/ for parts. He's got both the concave and convex buttons, as well as the lil shorties typically used for the metal CP cabinets like the candy cabs. For the sticks, I'm fond of the Happ Competition ones.

This is all just terrible information. Bob Roberts doesn't carry Japanese parts as his market is mostly people who want to restore woodies.

To the OP:

You can purchase parts here (although they are currently on hiatus):
http://www.lizardlick.com/

For joysticks you'll want probably a Sanwa JLF-TP-8T

You can use any 30mm button but it sounds like you may want the "30mm Black Body with Colored Plunger" model in particular, which is the model of button I see most often on the Neo candies. Either snap-in or screw-in will work.

These should all be super easy to install depending on how your control panel is wired up. If it has quick connects and a 5-pin wiring harness for the joystick then everything is "plug and play." If you're unsure take pictures of the inside of the control panel and someone on here will be able to give you some advice. I hope you're good at soldering and aren't afraid to learn a little about wiring, otherwise cab maintenance is going to quickly become aggravating.

You're right. I realized as I went digging to try and give actual part names / numbers.

I thought I'd seen the short buttons for Candys there, must have seen them elsewhere and just crossed the info.

I wasn't aware until just this afternoon that the joys wouldn't work, but it makes sense. If the CP isn't deep enough for the buttons, there's no way the HAPP compeition sticks would fit.

My bad. Ignore me, listen to Lochlan.

They only sell japanese parts and they specify which parts are used in the cabs but like lizardlick they are also on hiatus

I believe it has the quick connects. One end of the wire harness goes in towards the monitor area and the other end is connected to the stick. All the wires go into a small white plastic connector on each end. As far as the buttons, each button has two separate wires that go into each button. I think these just pull out and plug back into the new buttons. I will get a pic up later tonight. Thanks for the help.

As the good book Neo says: "Bewareth the noob who cometh bearing advice, for surely it is bogus." Of course, "lil shorties" should have been a dead give away.

I'll second lizardlick.com as the place to go. They are not taking order till mid April but they have the fastest service hands down for U.S. orders. Great guys to deal with too. There's just no reason to order from japan if they have what you need.

Thanks. I'll be ordering from them when available. I'll post some pics of outside and inside the CP later tonight so I know what I need to order.

Use the model of sticks and buttons I told you in my first post., it's exactly what you want.

STICK: I don't know where to get JP sticks with colored shafts, but if you're fine with a non-red one (you can still get a red balltop) the Sanwa JLF-TP-8T is your best bet. However, as long as it has the 5-pin harness it's good to go so you can get a Seimitsu stick if that makes you happier ;)

BUTTONS: Buttons are Seimitsu PS-14-GN 30mm Pushbutton "30mm Black Body with Colored Plunger" -- I think. I'm not sure if Sanwa makes black-body buttons, but FYI Sanwa and Seimitsu buttons are functionally almost identical but use very slightly different colors.

EDIT: actually, you should probably get a Seimitsu stick (or at least a balltop) to make sure that the reds match.

O.K. I'm going to get Seimitsu parts. I know what buttons to get. As far as the stick they have the LS-32 and the LS-32-1. Not sure what the difference is or which one I need. Now my next question is how do I install them? Do I have to do any soldering or is is just a matter of a quick disconnect and reconnect for the buttons and sticks?

The LS-32 is a stainless joystick shaft, and does not have the shaft cover. It also has a different mounting plate, so be sure you get the right one. The candys tend to come with Seimitsus rather than Sanwa parts. Check on akihabarashop.jp to see pics, they have every model of Seimitsu sticks still in production.

Lizard Lick isn't really the place to go if you want it in the next month.

Akihabarashop.jp is going to open this Sunday, and you'll get your stuff in around a week or two from your order there.

You can also try arcadeshop.de which I've been hearing has Sanwa stuff in stock and is shipping (not sure on Seimitsu right now).

I don't mind waiting a few months for Lizardlick. Would rather order from U.S. As far as my stick, it does have a shaft plate so I assume I need the LS-32-1. As far as install, is it just plug in and play with the stick and buttons?

Yeah, all you need is a pair of pliers (to pull the quick disconnects off the buttons) and a screwdriver (to mount the joystick).

It's extremely easy unless your buttons are soldered for some reason.

Thanks, I actually think my stick is a LS-40. This is what arcadeshop.de told me. This is the only one that has the stick shaft like the one on my candy.

O.K, I just took apart my CP and my sticks are definately the LS-40-1. As far as the buttons, the 1p, 2p, and select are all threaded with a nut behind which are simple to remove and replace. However, the push buttons are not threaded and I am having a hard time removing these. I think they are the snap in ones. Is their an easy way to remove these?

They are hard to remove because there are 3 steps in the snap in (for different thickness).

Use a flat head screwdriver and push in slightly on the tab while also pushing it out of the cp.

I find the easiest way is to go back and forth from each side getting out a little bit on each side and then you can kind of twist it out while holding the tabs in by hand.

Try akihabarashop.jp on Sunday. It's not in the USA. But for just buttons and sticks you can get a decent price with EMS shipping which only takes like 3 days (from when they ship)

I heard that you should try akihabarashop.jp.

lol. Hey, they've got good service.

But I just remembered modchipman.com has sanwa stuff now. From what I've heard they're planning on getting Seimitsu stuff in, so keep an eye on them. And they're in Chicago.

They make you pay $2-$5 extra for non-pink balltops. How strange.

Have you used them before? Their website sketches me out with its overwealming shittiness.

I haven't used them, but they've got a lot of members on Shoryuken that have had good experiences with them (other than one guy who just registered who claims an employee stole his credit card number and went to Old Navy and charged a bunch of stuff, lol).

They also carry stuff by Toodles, who is one of the most respected members on that board, and if he trusts them enough to supply them I wouldn't have any problem using them.

And yeah, the site is pretty shitty.
