Neo CD console problem

so i just got this neo geo cd top loader and it smells new, looks new, everything about it seems new. however, when i press the power button to turn it on: nothing. no sound, no picture, the disc doesnt even spin.

what is this all about?? it's like it's completely dead. when i turn it on, there is a small flash of white on the screen like it has the potential to start, but it does absolutely nothing. not a peep.

any help, suggestions, theories, or anything else would be very much appreciated. thanks!

Checked the adapter for proper voltage yet? I'd start there 1st.

i have all three neo cd consoles. front, top and cdz. i used the same power adapter on the top loader as i used for the front loader and the front loader works fine. the cdz has it's own power adapter, i used that, tested my cdz and it works fine. so im guessing the proper voltage is there?

these are all snk brand things im using. well for the video display, i am using a sony s-video a/v cable, but i tested it on my front and cdz and they both work fine. i have the standard a/v composite cables as well, but havent tested with that yet. doesnt seem like that's the problem though.

Might be something internal then... time to now make friends with an EE, I'd offer to help you, but shipping the console back and forth would be killer.

i wouldnt mind getting this console fixed or something because other than this terrible problem, it's like in mint condition.

the red power light comes on, but other than that, it seems dead.

wow. you know what's strange? when i used the power adapter that came in the same box as the Top Loader, it works!

but why is that?? aren't the power adapters between the Front Loader and Top Loader interchangeable? i thought they were because when i looked at both of them, they look exactly the same and have the same information on it except for one little letter in the very bottom right hand corner of the power adapter. (front loader adapter says Y9482 and the top loader adapter says Y94J2 - that is literally the only difference. they have exactly the same everything else)

edit: wow again. I'm a total idiot! i re'tested it with both power adapters and they both work. wth was i doing before.. maybe it wasnt all the way plugged into the back of the console? i have no idea. i'm sorry to waste everyone's time, but thank you for the replies li_gangyi!

Might be some light corrosion on the power plug, re-plugging and all wiped that off...

Usually with top loading Neo CDs consoles the lid switch gets stuck and doesn't actually activate properly. After opening and closing the lid a couple times it usually fixes it, if it doesn't you just poke it with a screwdriver to free it up.
