At least I think its trysync. Basically, a friend of mine got this cabinet from ebay months back. I am only interested in low rez games, Im not sure what the problem could be. When you plug a low rez game in, it flashes up 'out of range'. The monitor loom goes into a standard 5 pin monitor lead, and then plugs into a small board, which then has a VGA cable running from it to connect to the monitor. The small board seems to have some type of interchangeable cap. Its a 'big century' cab if that helps?

Odd thing is, its seems fine with cps1 (final fight) but keeps switching itself of for a sec during cps2, and gives the 'out of range' sign for anything SNK related.

that sounds like the sync, you may need to link the vertical and horizontal sync together
snk boards do act a little strange on some monitors(as do namco),sometimes it is necessary to link a 5kohm resistor from the video ground to the vertical sync but try the 2 syncs connected first

Im good enough to do the work, I would need to know where they can both be tapped from though?

sometimes it is necessary to link a 5kohm resistor from the video ground to the vertical sync

As in the video ground from the jamma connector, right?

but try the 2 syncs connected first

How do I do this?

Thanks for the brill info...... bit of elaboration?:)

can you post a photo of the 5 pin signal board and this cap you are talking about-all the tri sync chassis i have seen have a 6 pin connector

hmmm,interesting-looks as though that is one of the new chinese built tri syncs i have been hearing about

ok i have no idea what the jumpers are for but if i could see the track side of that board then i could tell you

now onto the sync situation,ok the 5 pin plug is for composite sync-if you look in the middle there is 6 pin plug which has the option for horizontal or vertical sync-they mark it as 24khz but i do not know why as i bet all those plugs are linked

i would really like to see the track side of that board

yeah really easy, you see the 24khz socket-just use a pc mobo type jumper to link V to H

you just have to short the pins together, you could in fact just solder a link underneath
to test it just get a flat blade screwdriver and short V to H to see if it cures the problem
