I need my region-modded Duo fixed...it's the normal sound/capacitor issue, but I suck at soldering. Anyone do this?

I know of a couple of really good guys that can do this for you. If you're interested, LMK and I can link you to them- ( I know they're on this forum but I believe the usernames are different.)

I'm sure channelmaniac, resident guru of all repairs, could help you for a nominal fee. I just had some work done by him and can't say enough good things.

Honestly though, it's a pretty easy repair. The caps are much easier to remove than those on an MVS board, which are a tight fit. I helped a friend recap his 4 slot and it was a PAIN.
But for the Duo, I did it and I'm no whiz with a soldering iron. You just need to be prepared to change a lot of caps. Different caps can create different problems, from low volume to no CD sound at all (which was my problem). Unless you can visually I.D. the problem cap it's best to just shotgun it and replace all those related to sound.

Yes, contact JetBlue, or go over on the PCEngineFX tech forums. Plenty of people over there to help you with whatever problem that you may have.

J. Max,

I can personally recommend Ryan (Red Ghost). He does a variety of mods and repairs for every system under the sun. He's got a ton of feedback and pictures of his work on his website: http://gametz.com/user/platinumfungi.html

He actually just region-modded my DUO-R (those pics of the modded DUO-R with the purple/pink LED are of my console!) and he does complete cap replacements. He's in the US.

He also offers services that aren't listed (including UniBIOS and component/s-vid/composite mods for AES).

Tell him kazuo sent you. :)

Damn, that sucks. My first Duo did that. I tried to fix it, but couldn't and ended up selling it for parts.

Hope someone helps you out!
