Hi all,

I would like to know if there is some specific technical issue or difficulty to mod a Fighting Stick 2 (HORI) for PS1/PS2 by wiring all its original stick+buttons to DB15 connectors (as the Neo-Geo's). The idea is to mod these sticks in order to make them working with a Supergun and DB15 controller-in.

Thanks!

Could use an adaptor.

Here are some links that may also help:

[Edit: wait why not wire right up to the button switches?]

Thank you, but actually I would prefer to not use an adaptor.
The Fighting Stick 2 for PS2 has 8 buttons, so my idea is to wire the upper 4 buttons to a DB15 male connector, and keep separately the 3 following buttons' wires outside the stick for connecting them to a CPS2 kick harness (not sure if my english is clear lol). The 8th button remains useless.

Can't do that as encoders will become a problem, at less you know how to use transitors and diaodes your idea is kind of dumb. Listen to the man and get some adaptors, or better yet completely turn that stick into a DB15 and use the pcb to make a playstation adaptor and you'll be all set.

That's what I want to do, I don't care if they are not PS2 compatible anymore.
I was wondering if it is possible to bypass and remove completely the controls-pcb, then wiring the DB15 connectors directly to the buttons and stick.
I'm not big fan of adaptors because some introduce a lag problem.

if they are standard joystick buttons (switches) then why not.

Keep the pcb around as some day later you might want it to use for a stick mod!

Well you could read this and figure out how to make a decoder from there and then you'd be able to put a db-15 on the controller.... It's a pain in the ass to do so though unless you can find someone who already has a design out.

Yep, that's the way to go. You can always use the pcb later on as an "adaptor" for your stick and you'll have zero lag issues with it if done right of course.

Alright, I get it. I was afraid about that decoder thing but was unsure about it.
It appears there is not such a problem with the official Sega DC Arcade stick...
If I can't figure it out, I guess I'll have to make a stick from scratch with Sanwa stuff.. I just wanted to avoid it because I'm bad in woodwork
