Oh hi there. Hopefully a fellow aussie can answer this question.

You guys in america and japan run at 110V but us aussies run twice that. If I get a switched DC universal adapter, should that solve the problem? And how many amps does the MV-1F need?

Cheers.

In Australia most older gen MVS cabs (at least the L & A ones I have seen) will have a 240- 110 volt step down transformer which doubles as an isolating transformer. This is neccessary as many of these cabs use the Kortek monitor running 110-115 volts ac.

The MV-1F board would require 4 - 5 amps on the 5 volt supply imho.
You may get away with less, but some headroom is a good thing.
Most arcade psus max at 15A so there is more than enough.

So I'm guessing I'll need a 5V DC adapter and a voltage step down transformer? Sorry, when it comes to electronics, electricity is my weakest. What voltage should I get for a step down transformer?

You will require an arcade power supply with 5 and 12 volts dc output.
Some prefer to use PC type power supplies - they work fine.

What type of monitor are you using ? This will determin if you require a step down/ isolation transformer.

I'm supergunning it. So just a normal TV monitor.

Doh ! Sorry I thought this was going into a cab :spock:

You just need a 5 volt dc supply with adequate current rating.

Forget the isolating transformer, that only applies to cabs.

okay that clears things up. So it doesn't matter if I plug in a 5v that runs at 220V? I don't need a step down?

Thats exactly right. 5VDC is 5VDC. Where its obtained from is irrelevant.

However, make sure you get a regulated power supply.

Thanks guys!

Just one more question. I'm incorporating a TV Sega SFII with the MVS and was wondering if I could use the controllers on the MVS as well?
