Weird cycling on 4-slot

I just got myself a copy of Real Bout 2, and I'm having some odd issues with it.

Currently, I have my 4 set as

1. Real Bout 2
2. Twinkle Star Sprites
3. Puzzle Bobble
4. Metal Slug 2

Now, when I first turn the system on, I don't get that updated "Neo-geo power spec" whatever screen that I would get for RB2, I get the older one that comes with TSS. As that finishes, I get the "winners don't use drugs screen, and then it goes to Twinkle Star Sprites, not RB2. As I cycle through the games, and get back to slot 1, I get the updated "power spec" screen for RB2 now.

So, from what I can tell, I can play RB2 no problem, but I have to cycle through the games first before it will let me. And then every time I manually cycle all the way through the games, I get the "power spec" bumper again. This never happened before.

RB2 is the first game of mine that has this updated power-on screen, so is this normal?

Are they all nice and clean carts?
What happens if you put TSS in 1 and RB2 in 2 ... will it go right to RB2 the first time?

all a clean and swabbed with alcohol. If I switch them, it still goes to TSS first. And when I cycle to RB2, it does like, a soft reset, and I get the RB2 "power spec" screen AND "winners don't do drugs." As far as I know, neither of those 2 should be popping up at that point.

There's a few threads here that talk about that. I think at one time I searched for giga power or something like that.

I don't totally remember but I think it goes to the lowest Meg count game first, or maybe it's the highest. There's sort of a method to the madness!

And with multi slots its weird when it decides to show the pro gear spec thing or mega shock or giga shock or whatever. There was a recent thread where someone was asking about that too.

You can always try rearranging the carts and see what you get too.

When neo is first started up games rotate lowest meg count to highest and use splash screen info from first game to start (lowest meg count).

After a full rotation the games rotate based on slot order (1,2,3,4) with splash screen dictated by slot 1 game.

This confused me for a bit as well and to answer your question, yes it is normal.

interesting.

Thanks for the help everyone. So, it really is normal to see that startup screen and "don't use drugs" screen EVERYTIME I cycle to the gigapower game?

Weird.

I can confirm this is normal, my 2 slot does the same thing if there is a "giga" game in slot 1 and a "330 mega" game in slot 2:

Boots from slot 2, cycles through each game, then boots from slot 1 each and every time after.

Dude, buaku, thanks for posting that link. I had always wondered why this happened and Raz's post explains it very clearly! It all makes sense now! The world is right once again!

You're welcome! I had the same questions with my multi-slot machine too way back when:)
I wanted at least one giga game, and thought it was weird the screen wasn't showing the logo I was expecting. Nice to know it's all normal.
