Does anyone know if there's a way to tell if a 1st-gen AES(with no video being output) is turned on? So they don't have a power LED on the board itself? (like the later revisions have).
I've found that there are 5 main hardware variants of the AES:
1st generation
2nd generation: rev3-3, rev3-4, rev3-5, rev3-6

Also, does anyone know where to get good quality photos of each generation of board? Or could they be found by searching posts on ng.com?

I'm not quite sure what you mean here, I can only assume you want to test the unit is getting power.

Measure a data line from a controller port.

yeah just want to know if the unit is getting power and the chips are booting up and running (it has a unibios that has been piggyback onto the bios, the 2nd leg has been cut but it's missing the two wires you need to have soldered on). Would missing those wires cause it to have no video output(or just a blue screen instead of the white screen u need for 3.0).
