dumb question from a absolute noob

forgive me for my ignorance, but i was wondering if this would possibly work

if i were to buy dragon quest 5 for the super famicom and obtain eproms of the translated version and swap them out with the super famicom version would it play in English

or would it be epic fail?

Of course it would work. Although you'd obviously be turning a legitimate cart into a boot, which is something I'd never condone doing.

Well it wouldnt work....the pinouts of the nes roms dont match up with those of a standard eprom (at least the last I remember). Although if you do enough pin rewiring it should work. You would have to get a pinout of the original roms and the new eproms and match them up and route pins where needed to have it work.

27c4001 (512kb) and 27c801 (1mb) are the ones to use apparently.
