I reseated the black roms on the board and nothing changed.

Is this the one that has no suicide anything? If it isn't a suicide board I'm gonna try and reseat the capcom roms with the labels on them. When I push on the B board the pictures clears up a little.

I don't believe any Street Fighter 2 PCB has suicide battery.

I think you are correct in thinking its a ROM with bad connection. Game seems fine until you are in a fight.

Does it have a CRC checker in service mode?

I dont think its a ROM issue. Looking at the video it appears its the scrolling thats causing the problem, the GFX are fine up until then. I more suspect a damaged trace somewhere on the PCB or daughter board, maybe even a problem with connector between main PCB and daughterboard.

Check the connectors for continuity between the top & bottom board. Also see if tapping on that surface mount chip on the C board causes and changes. I've seen quite a few of those that had busted solder joints.

I think it's the connection between A & B as if I push on the board it seems to clear up. I'll pull em apart and see if anything looks weird.

I tried reseating the roms and all boards and it's still the same. I don't see any broken traces so I am guessing it could just be the connectors.

How do I fix that though, just replace them?

AFAIK all non-suicide CPS1 boards are interchangeable.

However, there is two different versions of CPS1 A boards. One with a 10MHz? 68k and one with a 12MHz.

B boards may require modification depending on the ROMs you are using.

They also may require different PROMs.

Take a look at my CPS-1 repair logs out on newlifegames.net. I documented the little zero ohm jumper settings for the ROM types. There are 2 settings. One is for the 27C301 (non-JEDEC) EPROM type and the other is for the 27C010 JEDEC type.

I noticed today when I was playing it that the problem jumps from sprite to sprite depending on the character and BG. On E honda his sprite is over exposed looking then when you go to india the BG flickers then in china Chun Li is overexposed and then USA Ken's BG is flickering and then the radio in Guile's stage is overexposed.

Weird.

Now when I push on the C board firmly the graphics clear up but I dont see any busted solder joints on the surface mount so it might be the connector from C to B.

This is just irritating.

Ok so I checked the soldering and touched up a few pins and reseated the IC on the C board. The title screen is now clear as well as bonus stages and the character select screen is fine too. Only problem that still remains is the BG flicker, still noticeable on Ken, Blanka, Guile, Vega, Sagat(Really bad, turns solid green sometimes) and I think Balrog's stage as well.

Could it be that those BGs are on the same rom? Which rom is it?
