Yup, Wiznet (whoever they are) has ported Strikers 1945 Plus to the PSP. I just learned about this port in the weekly update from play-asia. They say it's in stock and ready to ship. Despite already having this on MVS, I'm thinking about importing it for PSP for some Strikers love on the go.

Cool that it's been ported, but why you would own a PSP and not have this on there already via emulation is beyond me.

I just never bothered to put CFW on either of my PSPs. Never really interested me. Being able to adjust the CPU core clock speed and rip / run games off the memory stick would really be the only features I would use.

The emulation alone is worth the effort, especially if you're into shmups. Full NES, SNES, MD, TG16, CPS1, CPS2, and Neo libraries, not to mention any PS1 game you can get your hands on to turn into an eboot. I really don't play my PSP for actual PSP games at this point, it's just an awesome portable emulator.

If that's not your thing though, I could see it not being worth it.

Strikers 1945 plus runs pretty badly last time I played it on my psp slim (lot's of slowdown). Has anyone gotten it to run decently lately?

If I order this I'll be sure to post impressions on the quality of the port job.

Yep, that's the emulator. It runs with much more slowdown than the real mvs version. The real game plays much better. Mame doesn't even run strikers well.

I played this for something like an hour, as I played the original version on the MVS emulator of the PSP.

There is no slowdown in the PSP version. Bullet are wayyyyy slower though, except for later bosses. I did not really enjoy the game though, so I cant say more.

There is slowdown in the MVS version, mostly later in the game. Not sure I'd want to play stage 7-8 without it.

As I said, bullets are way slower in the PSP version. I completed the first loop of the game (ok with 15 continues) and even though I was dying every 10 seconds because I did not know the game, I think this is definitely not as hard as the MVS version w/ slowdown.

The MVS version has probably the most bullets on screen with no slowdown of any MVS game. I was blown away when I got it.

I have not played the PSP version yet, but the bullets slow down when you die in the MVS version. If you keep getting killed over and over you'll never see the bullets run at full speed. 1LC up to stage 1-4 and you'll see max bullet speed. The bullet slow down is really noticable when you're used to max speed and then you die...it's like everything is in slow motion.

Sounds like you are talking about rank. Slowdown and rank are two different things.

No, I'm not. The bullets speed up in the game the longer you go without getting killed, and they slow back down to the default speed when you die.

That's rank. Slowdown occurs when the hardware is pushed beyond it's limitations (or due to bad coding) and the game starts dropping frames.

Ohoh, how could I forget about rank. Of course, since Ikept dying everytime in my PSP run, I never saw what high rank look like.

Anyway, I also played the MVS version, and it seemed lot harder to me, mainly due to bullet speed.

I get what you are saying, and perhaps the correct term is rank (the game does rank you based on your score at game over), however I was not talking about the game slowing down (e.g. everything slowing down due to hardware limits like you said), just the speed of the bullets. The game runs at the same speed, the bullet speed changes.

[edit]
So when I said "slow down" I did not mean it in the traditional sense, I literally meant the bullets slow down, not the whole game.
