Ok, got a mulit, checked everything out, and it's GO! Consolized MVS is up and running! Although, I have a new problem. The picture I'm getting is kind of "wavy" not terribly like when an old TV wouldn't dial in, but plenty enough to make it irritating to play (it kind of jiggles). I rechecked all my connections and everything seems fine. I'm using composite connections to connect to my TV. (I'm also using a NeoBitz). Any help would be greatly apprecaited.

Edit- I see a 0.01uf Ceramic Cap may help on the sync line, but there are a few diff kinds. (different %'s and V's). Any ideas on which one?

+5v on the center pin usually. Best to use a multimeter to tell which is what.

Dude, seriously, if you're gonna be doing this stuff you need to own one. No ifs ands or buts about it.

Multimeters are as important for these mods as the board itself.....

New problem posted. And yeah, I know they're important. I've been meaning to get one specifically for this project. Found one from a friend.

Are you using the video ground for the jacks?

Yes- i'm using the ground wire off the neobitz and they're daisy chained together.

Did you try the s-video output at least? The compsite sucks on all encoders, mostly because it's composite.

Yeah that's what I hear. Problem is that I don't have a tv with s-vid so i'm trying to get the most out of my composite connections I can for the moment.

Not even one of your friends has an S-Video equipped TV? Even an LCD or Plasma would do, just to make sure there's no problem with the video.

Lmao- fair enough. We'll see what happens when I get that cable. Figured I may as well post a pic of it. (it's only about halfway there on the exterior)

That would look so much sweeter if it was fully enclosed.

Yeah, it will be once it's done- I'm using a baby white pine on the outside and it will have slots cut in it so that the top and bottom luon will slip into the slots. It'll be varnished as well and the different color woods will contrast eachother nicely I think. Top board still needs about 4 more coats of clear varnish.

Wow, that CMVS is quite something! Nice job on the wood idea. :D

Thanks! The idea came from me not being able to find a 2 slot cover (note my begging post in wanted forum). I'm actually kind of glad I couldn't find one since it made me get off my ass and make a custom shell. :)

I like the idea of wood.... If fully enclosed.

Especially if you can get a hold of some nice cherry...

Or Birdseye maple veneer...

Fuck these tools trying to put together plastic enclosuers.

Exactly, grab some top quality wood and you could have a Goldie CMVS! After all, the arcade machines are made out of wood, why not a CMVS with a wood casing?

Well thanks for the kind words- I did actually think about birds-eye, but I think for the way I've designed it it'd be hard to do that. I'll post more pics once it's done. If it all comes out nicely I'll think about making a higher end enclosure for myself.

EDIT- So does anyone know of a way to fix my composite video? I tried the .01 uf caps with no luck at all.

Normally Composite doesn't behave like that, perhaps there's a cold solder joint somewhere in the Composite circuit? Maybe there's possibly something wrong with Neobitz? Might not be a bad idea to check everything for good connections if you haven't already.

Wood is awesome, I still think my CMVS woody was my fave. Just something about wood, so warm to the touch compared to plastic and metal.

You could always pick up an S-Video to composite adapter, those work fine.
