Finally got my first cabinet. Switched out the joysticks and buttons. Still waiting on my my 4 slot MVS to arrive so I decided to throw in my SF2 pcb and see if the cabinet was working.

I have picture and the controls work minus the kick buttons so I know the cabinet uses a JAMMA harness or does it use a MVS harness.

1) How do I know if my cabinet is stereo or mono? I am getting no sound from the pcb. I see outputs for stereo on the pcb but dont know where I would plug the rca cables into? I see that the speaker wires are merged with the harness but still get no sound.

2) There are two plugs and wasn't sure what the smaller white one is for?

3) When I receive my 4 slot MVS, would I have to get a MVS to JAMMA harness for the 4 slot to work?

I'm not really tech savy so I want to make sure I dont hook up anything wrong and damage any components. Any help would be appreciated

For CPS2 you need to turn up the volume either via the test button or with the buttons on the A board.

I have tried both those methods and get no sound. I went through the test menu and changed sound from stereo to mono and vice versa and still get nothing as well as turning up the volume the A board.

I looked around and couldn't find anything. I just see the speaker wires connect to the harness which plugs into the pcb. Is there something specific I should be looking for?

Check in the settings if you have the audio going to q-amp (RCA jacks) or something like that.

I'm assuming I get to this menu by pressing the test button on A board. The only sound option in the settings is changing from stereo to mono and a sound test option but neither display what you stated above.

I gotta check mine again. Also are you actually playing the game or just watching the attract mode? Sometimes sound for the attract mode will be off.

Yeah I was playing the game. Picture and controls work no problem, just no sound

was just thinking about this today..

Nice Cab..

I have the same cab..My Cab was wired for MVS stereo..

For me to play CPS2 I had take two of the wires off the speakers and make it mono...It's been a really long time but CPS2 is mono in a jamma harness with no amp Yes?

There is no amp in these cabs..

What I had to do was look at a general JAMMA pin out and unplug the wires from the speakers up in the top(marquee) and make the cab mono..(from Stereo)It was so simple after I printed out a Jamma mono pin out and laid it next to a MVS stereo Pin nout to figure out what wires to switch..
I'm pretty sure it was taking the two positive wires off the two speakers, unhooking the grounds and putting the two positive wires to "one" speaker making it mono..

Again it's been a long time and I no longer own CPS2 so I'd like a verification on if that's correct.

I forget but does CPS2 require -5?

Yup, totally forgot about that even when I mentioned q-amp.

Thanks for the help guys. Not looking to play CPS2 on here since I will have another dedicated cabinet for that. I just wanted to test the cabinet to make sure it was working. When my MVS slot comes in, hopefully the speakers will work.

Does anyone know what the other smaller white harness is for?

Control Panel Led Cable

There should be two white cables. They plug into the MVS motherboard to display how many credits you have for each player.

Let's seperate two ploblems, and check each one differently.

one is pcb ploblem, the other is cab.

I have had A-board sound ploblems myself before, that has volume swithes non-working, so, you need to check this cps2 board in 2 ways. First, do you have RCA stereo or mono or video cable? If you have any, just hook it up to TV or any audio components and see if sounds comes out from each L/R output of CPS2. If no sound, then swap to extra A board and do the same. This way will locate where the ploblem is.

The cab you have seems to be connected only with mono on jamma connector, but we can't get any further infomation from your pic or nether your comment, so I want for you to check sound wirings, first, ok?

Please, check the wires connected at No.10 and "L"(opposite side of 10) on Jamma connector and check where it goes. Does those 2 wires goes to volume? Also, do both wires from speakers goes to volume too??
If both sound wirings are connected ok from jamma connector>volume>speaker, withought any miss-wirings,it should work(that's if you have live speakers and volumes, though)

If ok, then, you need different jamma pcb or cps that has sound comming out ok. Hook 'em up, and sound should come out.

Well I got my MVS-F 1 slot and everything seems to be working fine. Is there a way I can adjust the volume?

also one other thing on the mv1f is that if you are getting sound thrue the jamma harness it wont be stereo there is a 4 pin connector on the board for stereo and a switch to change the board form mono to stereo
