I've had a single slot consolized MVS for about a year now and have collected a small but solid library of games that I really love. It occurs to me maxing out my potential enjoyment of this system would mean switching over to a multi slot machine. What do I need to know ? Can I just desolder my 1F from the power supply / video encoder and connect them to the multislot and assume everything will run ? Can I switch out the bios with my unibios ? sorry if these questions seem totally obvious thanks !

The only catch I can think of is if your power supply isn't strong enough to run the multislot, you might need to upgrade / adjust it (depending on what you have). You should be able to use your Unibios with no problems.

No technical advice except make sure your power supply can power it (how many slots are you thinking about?) and wire in a game switch button if you don't have one.

As far as enjoyment of games, well it does help in an arcade cab...not sure about the increase of playability in a console environment. I know sometimes a slight jog to the mobo just adjusting volume on a 2 or 4 slot can reset games and they can be picky about how the carts are inserted...so I guess what I am trying to say is that if you leave the unit in one spot, I'd go for it. If you put it somewhere for storage and pull it out as desired then it could be a pain in the ass.

Anyone with a multislot knows, it can be a pain setting up carts sometimes. The upside is you tend to put more of a variety in the mobo and play certain games more often then you would normally.
