MVS vs. AES

I'm saw Arcade is selling 1 slot adapters for the AES so you can run MVS... I'd like to care about my collection (3 titles ) but, since I'm at the very beginning, don't you think I should switch to the MVS adapter? So I can get every game at a cheaper price?
Is there something I don't know about MVS?

MVS is the better choice,no cencorship in games, games are much cheaper than there aes counterparts and even the newer games although start of expensive drop in price quicker than the aes ones, take for example at the moment i would say kof 2000 is abou the same price on both formats but MOTW is 400 plus on aes but only 100 on mvs, last blade 2 is 200 on aes only about 60 on mvs and it is not censored because unless you have a debug chip on the aes you cant access fatalities or blood while on the mvs you can,the biggest price difference though is on metal slug, for a genuine copy on the home system it wil sert you back about a thousand dollars.you get the excact same version on mvs woith red blood for about 40,now thats a huge saving, get it while you can as i know a lot of people are starting to opt for mvs now and with the 1 slot, i myself have a super gun and if you do get this adaptor from arcade make sure it can play all games as i know snk put a chip in there games from 99 onwards so that there games after that date cant be accessed via some converters.

You wanna play the games or look at them?

MVS man, I just finished my supergun and god almighty it's awesome. I had a AES with 2 games, then I sold it immediately after realizing I wanted more games that costed +800. now I have almost every game I want for the MVS and it cost me about what I paid for the AES and the two included games. Good stuff.

Peace

Buy homecarts, because inaddition "to looking at them," you can also play them. I have every game for the homecart, and I play with all of them. Take pride in what you are playing and what you own.

(Oh, if you just want to paly the games, use NeoGeoRage)

This dumb agrument again.

If your an arcade player get an MVS, if you like buying games simply so you can say their rare, and take groovy internet collection pics to show off online get homecarts.

MVS games came first, so anyone who says your any "less" of a fan for only collecting them is full of shit.

Homecarts are "secondary", that's fact.

At the end of the day the neo is an arcade system.

mvs users get arcade games, aes get home 'versions'.

Simple really.

I don't want to mock anybody for doing/buying what they enjoy, but this does seem to be the trend. I am a happy MVS owner with over 30 carts, and finding those same 30 carts for AES (the ones that were produced for home, anyway--that's a big factor right there, selection) would be easily the price of a car...

I think the same thing. Don't get me wrong: I do love AES carts and, God, I would love to have a complete collection But I do love to play them too! So I'll go MVS... could you help me replying to the topic I posted on General Discussion (if I'm not wrong...) with the title 'Phantom 1'? This would be very appreciate!

I would say the same thing for the really expensive older carts (MOTW, MS1, etc.). However, most of the older AES carts can be picked up for a real song as long as you're keeping your eyes open. I just won an auction for an AES, two joysticks, and 15 complete games. Cost me $560. After I dump the system for $200, that's $360 for 15 AES carts valued at $650 MINIMUM in Shawn's price guide. Not too shabby.

For the more expensive games, I'll get the converter and go MVS. I already have MS1 sitting right here.

Not quite. Get a dev BIOS mod, run the system in MVS mode, and that issue goes away. Or run it as a US home cart with blood and boobs. Or run it as a Japanese cart for the different title screens and artwork. Much more flexible than MVS.

Lee certainly does have a penchant for run-on sentences

That's not a bad deal at all an probably a fair one because I find that most cartridges and systems that are won off of eBay are not in collecter's worthy conditon....
Alot of prices in that guide I am guessing are for GOOD to MINT condition games(collecter worthy)
Inspect the quality and condition of your stuff and let us know how it turned out...
My recent success rate from eBay..couple of months back had been 0-3
The Home market is truly being ruined for collecter's with these conversions and bootlegs floating around of hard to find / rare carts. The commons have not been tampered with but the manual, insert and carts have been 'DOGGED OUT',ABUSED..

Ebay is hit or miss. I got my first AES there, and it wasn't quite in the condition I hoped it would be. The carts I've won previously are good, with nice cases for the most part. The manuals seem to take the worst beating.

From the pics I saw, these carts seemed nice. Didn't get to see the manuals though, so who knows. I'm mostly excited about getting 15 games at once I'll let you know how it turned out though when I get the carts.

You seem to be against conversions for games that already have home carts. I have to admit that while I'd love to get my hands on an original Metal Slug, I doubt I'll ever spend what it takes. I was thinking about getting a conversion from !Arcade!, since I have a couple AES consoles I wanted to trade for games. I can see how it poses a problem for collectors, but I think that conversions purchased to complete a collection, with no intention of selling them later on as authentic SNK merchandise, are okay. It's when scumbags auction them off as authentic merchandise that they become a problem.
