This is one of the later versions of the 2F... Did you know there were 2 versions of the 2F? This one takes one more 4.7uf and 22uf caps in the audio section.

Anyway, a forum member shipped me one for repair.

Symptom: Calendar Error message and Battery acid damage

Fix: Removed Battery and cleaned the acid damage. Repaired 1 broken trace to fix the calendar problem.

Board would boot and run but had no audio and lines on slot 2 that would come and go if the cartridge was wiggled. Cleaned slots and whole board thoroughly then installed an audio cap kit and a new battery.

I have never seen two different MV2F's and the additional caps are odd, especially the 22u one as normally there are three for the headphone amp and one for the jamma amp. I'd be curious to know where they go exactly.

This is a later one and is a little smaller in size than the older 2F. It's about the same age as the MV4FT2, the last 4 slot.

Nope. It's already boxed and ready to ship.

Next time I get one in I will.

Wasn't the notable difference the location of the Dips? One is to the right of the jamma edge and the other is to the left of the card slot.

I hope he wasn't talking about the fact that different 2-slots models exist because that's known. There are 3 versions: MV2 (size: 45x28cm, DIPs near joy ports), MV2B (same size as MV2, no memory card reader), MV2F (size 38x28cm, DIPs near battery). There are sub-versions like MV2-02, MV2FS, etc. but they don't really differ from the basic models. The only difference in the audio circuit is that the MV2 doesn't have the 470uF filter cap for the headphones amplifier. If there is a MV2F sub-version with noticeable differences, as would be the above mentioned addition of 4.7uF and 22uF caps in the audio section I'd be interested to know more but until I see proof of this I remain sceptical.

Next one that comes in will get pics taken. Just call me too lazy to rip apart a package, bubble wrap, and anti-static bags just to take a pic.
