Competition Joysticks getting stuck on microswitches?

I bought some new Comp. joys from happ the other day, and sometimes I get lucky with these things, and other times I don't. This time I didn't.

Sometimes these joysticks get caugh on their own microswitches. On the microswitch theres a little tiny white piece of plastic with two gaps next to it on the side of the switch that has the pushbutton contact. The corner of the square piece of plastic that you put on the end of the joystick can get stuck on this, preventing movement (mine does it in all directions). Here's an illustration-

Does anybody here know of a remedy to fix this? It happens damn near everytime the joystick rotates a little. I'm afraid to remove that microswitch piece as it would probably just get stuck on the 2nd gap instead. :(

Edit- I was thinking I could fill it with glue, but if theres a better way...

thats why i buy these

they are the same stick but have a round actuator in stead of the square one (and they are 4-8 way switchable)

you may be able to file down the corners or the actuator so they are less pointy and that may prevent the hang up or if you have some old ones from a nice worn in joystick you can replace them with thoes

After you use them a bit, they'll break in and stop doing that. I'm just the opposite of the previous poster, can't stand the round actuators. I love the "feel" that I get from the square actuators (much easier to feel when you are hitting all the right spots with :dragb:). Anyway, they'll stop hanging.

Wait, you bought these from happ, but you're stealing a pic from lizard lick? You do know that lizard lick sells these for cheaper, right?

The spacer inside the HAPP sticks wear out over a period of time and causes the joystick to slip slighty...enough for the bottom piece to get caught on the switches. The spacer should be replaced or if you want to extend the use of the joystick, take off the e-ring on the bottom, slide in a small washer and put the e-ring back in place until you get the proper part and/or new joystick.

Kind of a retarded design. It would made more sense to keep the levers on the micros and make the square smaller.

I'm pretty sure I've flipped that Square part over to prevent it from getting stuck..I may have used a washer or two on the stem to have the square located in a spot where it doesn't lock up on anything..

I actually am going to mess with the sticks today in my Big Reds to make sure everything is spot on as I have company coming over to play.

i think these are new and not old so replaceing them may not be in the works

i m am the oppsite i like the supers because of the free 360 movment its great to be able to wip the stick around 360 without hitting a stop in the corners
its great for almost all fighting games

the only thing i do not like about the 360 movment is in 4 way mode there is no restriction so sometimes it can be a pain to hit the up domn left right everyt time esp in a crazy game of pacman

New or old, they should be the same. Most joysticks have 2 types of spacers: short and long depending on what type of control panel you're using them on (thin metal or thick wood ones).
