Why is Metal slug so much money?

I was looking at prices for AES games, and I saw Metal slug for like 1,000 bucks. Why is it so much?Thanks.

Well, there are a few reasons for this high price. One, this game is an extreme rarity. It is f'in hard to find. No one bought it when It first came out. It is on high demand. Sean is selling the Japanese version in the AES part of the store for 1,200 I think. Also, the game just kicks fucking ass! <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

I need to add that the production run was extremely low for Metal Slug one. Typically, during the heyday of the Neo in the early-mid 90's, a new cart would have a production run of several thousands. For some reason Metal Slug 1 had a short production run (less than 3000? - I'm guessing). So, because this is such a groundbreaking game, in short supply, the price is very high.

thanks guys. I've loved Metal Slug since the day it came out on my arcade. I wished I had an AES system. My friend got it for 160, near mint a couple weeks ago. I have it on emu.Later.

Another reason it is so hight is at the time, SNK was really pushing the Neo CD so cart production was really low. Where did your friend find it for 160?

It is that high because for some reason people will pay that much for it... simple as that. If everyone refused to pay $1,200 for a game, it would come down.

I would not consider it very rare at all.

I cant remember the last time I couldnt find it for sale, easily.

its only high priced cause people pay it.
Even if its silly.

There are many carts that are much
harder to find, & still cheaper.

If you REALLY want Metal Slug, you can find it quite easily for MVS. Just buy a converter and you should find one pretty soon.

Also, if you check out the selling section, I'm offering a converted cart for AES (no inserts, stickers, etc-just the game and black old-school box) for $205 (includes shipping). Quite a bit cheaper than $1300, no? <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">
