Hey, that looks pretty fun. I've never even heard of this game before, but pummeling Japanese thugs sounds like a good time to me.

I'm in.

That looks pretty awesome...the game definitely doesn't appear to take itself too seriously.

It's on my radar.

I actually tried to preorder it locally on my lunch break, but they didn't have it in their preorder system yet. I went for Phantasy Star Zero instead.

Nah, I reviewed an earlier one here.

Damn, beat me to it, that was the same beat-em-up on the DS I was thinking of. Gameplay looks like nothing to write home about, but it's a game for little girls (maybe boys), since it's based on an anime for little girls (maybe boys).

Bummer the import is 15 dollars more or I'd get it now :) (I should quit buying imports though they're hard to sell)

It's for little girls and perverted men. There are huge amounts of Precure hentai doujinshi out there, mainly dickgirl-themed (Futanari wa Precure).

Bump. This came out last week and I just got it from Amazon yesterday and haven't had time to play it yet. I want to absorb Hammerin' Hero first. Any impressions? It's a beat em up, so it can't be bad.

Damn, it's a good thing the big consoles are in the off-season, 'cause there are too damn many awesome handhelds coming out. I can't keep up. :emb:

But yeah, I wanna hear about this one too.

Looks like fun. It reminds me a little like Rival Turf. Have to look for this one.

Greg, how are you liking Beat Down?

I've had the Japanese version on my modded DS since it came out, but I didn't finish the game when I heard it was coming to the USA. Glad I waited, because some of the lines in this game are very funny, especially if you've been to Tokyo and are a gamer. My favorite are:

"An explosion in Akihabara?! My favorite stores are there!"

"Why are there so many people here?

I heard a new game system comes out tommorow.

Yeah but that's tommorow.

They line up early..."

I got a copy of this as soon as I found one (was hard as hell to find, seems that it fell victim to usual small number of shipped copies from Atlus kind of a deal), and it's fun.

Controls are a little sluggish, especially blocking, and shooting should NOT be attempted when enemies are close by at all, but overall, it's certainly enjoyable enough to warrant the $30 purchase.

Great localization work, as noted earlier, which is nice (as opposed, to say, Lux Pain, which I'd like to play but everything seems to say is just MURDERED by its localization).

Got a short, sweet, to the point review for it up at my blog.

Next up is a Hammerin' Hero review.

I kept expecting to see something like this during the last part of that preview:

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I just picked this up on Wednesday. It's wildly entertaining, although the gameplay can be a tad repetitive, but then, what beat-em up isn't? I think the humorous dialogue and cut scenes more than make up for it. Reminds me of Alan Spencer's moronic violent cop Sledge Hammer!

I got stuck on one of the terrorist bosses that kills you in 2 hits. Borrowed it to a friend.
