I have a 1 slot dedicated neo geo cabinet I recently bought. It is already wired for JAMMA, but has a seperate stereo cable that plugs in the side of the MV1, and a few other cables on the left side of the board coming off the harness that I do not know what they are. I want to hook this up so I can play all JAMMA boards with sound. So what I need to know is where I can find a good JAMMA harness. I see on therealbobroberts site they are a little more expensive and don't have the connectors on the end that plug in the power supply. And on JAMMA boards.com they seem to have all the connectors already. I just want to make sure before I buy one that I don't waste my money.

Also, I plan on getting rid of this 1 slot motherboard, and putting my 2 slot board in it. Where can I find instructions on how to add a select button to the cab? My cabinet already has the hole drilled in it, so I am guessing that is the hard part.

Thanks everyone!

Buy the harness from Bob Roberts they are by FAR the best quality ones available. Big deal if they don't have the fork terminals on the power wires, they take a couple of seconds to put on.

the other wires coming out of the side are the credit led lights and probaly a headphone output

as for you needing a new harness you should be fine just find a printout of a jamma pinout and find the sound wires on the jamma harness and then wire them up to some speakers and your problem is solved no need for a new jamma harness(just make shure they are unpluged from the speakes when you are playing your mvs board in stereo)

you may also have to connect the -5v aslo if the jamma board you are using requires it

get some pics please si i can see what you are dealing with

Uhh.. So unplug the harness from the speakers when you have the MVS connected. Great solution you've offered there. Who wants to be constantly connecting/disconnecting speakers?

What I do is put a switch in between the PCB and the speakers so the JAMMA sound can be turned off.

I usually get my harnesses from twisted quarter on ebay. I never have a problem with them.

Just had a look at those twisted quarter harnesses, they look to be of similar quality to Bob Roberts, however his have proper labels which identify each pin.

Thanks for all the help.

I think I wanna buy an adaptor so I can learn how to instal it. These fork terminals you're taling about, how many will I need? And what exactly is it called so I can find them? Is there a certain one i'm gonna need?

Adapter? For what?

Fork terminals is exactly what they're called, you'll find them at any electronics store. Get the yellow (thickest) ones, as some terminals you may want to attach several wires to (especially grounds).

Note that although these are different colours and sizes, the colour only refers to the thickness of the wire the connector will accept, and not the size of the connector.

Nothing wrong with a nice simple website it beats the flash bullshit most sites are full of these days.

Its funny, I was in the market for some extensions myself, 5ft JAMMA harness? $30 bucks. 6ft JAMMA extension cable? $60. :conf:

Yeah, how come on all the websites jamma extension cables are $30.00, and the harnesses are less that $10.00?

the wire on those things is super cheap.

the isulation is like double the normal so you think its a thicker gauge.

really flimsy and stuff.

on the plus side it comes with quick disconnects on every connection, fork terminals for the psu, and a connector that only fits one out of 10 of my monitors.

Because they're a bitch to make.

Ya those harnesses suck ass. The pins break off easy.

Even worse is that the conenctors tend to wear very very quickly... Worse than a NES 72 pin connector.

Suddenly buttons stop working intermittently (depending on the angle of the harness).... And it takes forever to diagnose because when you hook up the multi, it gives you a continutity sound....

The solution to this problem is to offer the JAMMA harness with the fingerboard SEPERATELY that we can solder ourselves - that should even out the price but I've yet to see a similar setup for sale. :(

They do offer that. The fingerboard is only $3.
