So I finally get my DS back from my cousin.

Long story short, I let my cousin borrow my DS so that he can decide if he wants to buy one for himself or not (grrr, no FFIV or Space Invaders Extreme for months). So after letting him borrow it for months I finally get it back; now I'm looking for some new games to try. I go to IGN and pick out a few titles that score well and are in genres that jump out at me.

-Professor Layton and the Curious Village

I enjoyed Big Brain Academy's rudimentary tests, but you can only practice and take the test so many times. Looking for fresh puzzles to solve, Professor Layton seemed to be the best choice with all of its "best handheld/DS game of 08" accolades. Puzzles that range from super easy to wtf. Does anyone here who has this want to chime in?

-Moon

Hot new release of 09', the genre is sci-fi first-person adventure (with some fps). Sounds alot like Deus Ex: IW to me, a game inferior to the original but somehow I found it to be one of my favorite games from the previous generation. For some odd reason I give a long leash of forgiveness to sci-fi adventure, be it either video games or movies. Moon should be mildly entertaining to most, but I wouldn't be surprised if I end up loving it.

-Puzzle Quest

Just a rebuy here. I downloaded PQ on XBLA, but I find myself not getting around to it because if I'm playing anything on 360 it's GoW2, PSU, L4D or the hot new release. The only time I'll have to play PQ is on downtime at work, hence the purchase.

-Chrono Trigger

I still believe Chrono Cross is the superior rpg, but that does not mean that I do not appreciate the classics. Of course, my biased opinion of CT may be due to the fact that I played it on the Final Fantasy Chronicles collection on the PSX (bad load times and all). Maybe playing CT in a more pure form (DS) will give me a better perspective?

The only game on your list I haven't played is Moon but I have read very good things about it.

Professor Layton is fantastic. The music, art style and puzzles are are exellent and it is one of the best DS games out there. I put several hours into this game but my wife beat it and actually dropped around 15 plus hours into it. We never dl'd the new puzzles but there are suppose to be a number of them out there. The only draw back is that there really isn't any replay here. Once you figure out a puzzle you got it.

I loved Puzzle Quest, though I wish they had the expansion campaigns for it.

I've been meaning to play Prof. Layton.

I recommend Link's Quest if you like that sort of game.

Another recommendation for Layton, it's one of the best games on the system.
