What was a Neo Geo Core System ?

I have a photo here from NGF:

On the top shelf they have Neo Geo Core Systems.

What were they AES or CD ?

What was in the box ?

I have never seen one for sale, anyone have one ?

Anyone have more pics / info ?

I think NGF made those boxes.

But they are just green rental systems normally.

Green box/shipping box rental systems are the same as the AES Silver System, aren't they? They just have the system and 1 AES stick in the box. Probably the NGF Core System has the same contents. That's what "core" means, just the core of the system, console and 1 controller, no games, enough to get you started if you're just going to rent games (did Blockbuster in the US rent out Neo games in the early 90's?). But unless NGF were authorized by SNK to rebox these green systems, they're unofficial.
What I don't understand about NGF is why KOF2000 is not listed on the ng.com price guide as an official SNK release- weren't NGF authorized by SNK to release a US KOF2000 AES (but not any games after that)? It is it because a lot of people here don't like NGF (with good reason, apparently).
