My samsung slimfit started making aloud high pitch noise that squeals sound. First I though that one of the speakers may have when bad but when I push the mute button on the remote the sound continued. I traced the sound to the back of the TV and it is coming from the tube itself. Does anybody have any clue what maybe wrong with it, or if its worth taking to a repair shop.

any effect on the picture ?
No none what so ever and the speakers are working fine to. The high pich sound has been going in and out when I was useing today, there for a second I thought that it was fine but it started doing it again.

Sounds like an inductor rattling, either the yoke or the lfbt (in the olde days the width or horizontal linearity coil could cause that). Call in a tech, it may be possible to glue whatever is causing the whistle down.
