Weird Neo 4-slot v3 problem - game doesn't remember settings?

Hey everyone. Firstly I want to thank everyone here that helped me with the Neo as I was getting it ready to give as a christmas gift, and I completely restored and repaired it (in under a week!). Needless to say, they loved it! :D

However I do have some weird problem that I haven't noticed before. For some reason, when the coin door closes, the game soft resets. When I say soft resets, I mean it doesn't show the Uni-Bios logo, just the flipping Neo-Geo logo. Sometimes, in the middle of whatever game I'm playing, instead of soft resetting it will show an error on screen (I believe they are different errors each time, have to double check). Does anyone here know what would cause this?

Thanks in advance,
Shmenge

Edit - Oh, I forgot one thing. The game doesn't remember it's settings when it gets turned off. (Are MVS games, puzzle bobble inparticular, supposed to save high scores?) If so, what battery do I need to replace the bad one on the mobo?

Post the error messages...

Also, if it's not saving scores, leave it powered up for 24 to 48 hours and try again.

The battery on the board is a rechargeable and if it's dead you'll need to fully charge it. Most home use systems don't get enough use to keep the battery charged.

OK here's what I did. I disconnected the black and white wires from the monitor (AC), d/ced the marquee lights and powered the game on. The sound comes up, but I blindly went into the bios and turned it off. It's OK to leave the machine like this for 48 hours? I tried leaving it enabled for 12 hour intervals and that didn't do the trick, but if this thing is anything like my rechargable 360 controller battery that I left unattended for about a year, 12 hours isn't going to cut it. :(

So I left the machine on for more than 48 hours, and it only remembered *half* the settings. And some of them were incorrect. :conf:

When I first powered on the board and went into the BIOS, the date and time were wrong, and the time was rapidly increasing. This rapid increase stopped as soon as I set the date and time correctly. Now, after more than 48 hours of continuous use, it did not return to this rapid increasing, rather, it was a steady increase but the incorrect time and date. By a few years.

Also, the BIOS remembered the fact that I had set the demo sounds to "Without" as opposed to setting each games sounds independently. However, the UniBIOS forgot what region it was and its ingame settings (no input crossing, etc). The games' individual settings had also been forgotten, and reset to their defaults.

So now the question is, why is my board only remembering half of my settings? The battery should be fully charged by now, but just now, for the brief time I powered it off to re-connect the monitor, it had forgot half of its settings. :(
