I recently obtained a Sega Virtua Stick Pro, but the buttons on the right side are a bit sticky. I'd like to replace them, but they are connected to a PCB. Has anyone replaced these before? I need to know how much pain I'm getting myself into if I decide to replace them...

well i have never messed with one but i assume you could just use a regular arcade button (if it fits)and then look on the pcb and then just solder the leads from the micro switch to the solder points on the pcb

hey where in ks mo are you got any mvs stuff mabey we can make some trades sometime
if you need any buttons i have a big huge box of them here

I'm afraid to solder them...I wonder if there's a way to loosen them so they won't stick. Any ideas?

well if the buttons are sticking just shoot them with some wd40 and then work them untill they dont stick

looks like the mod the guy didi in your link turned out good id go that route
i dont have any of the clip in style buttons here so you would have to order some

soldering is pretty easy just get a good iron and thin solder and take your time

I tried the WD40 route already, but it didn't help much. It's a little hard to see how the buttons are attached to the PCB because there's a giant plastic shield in the way, and I don't have the metric socket set to get it off.

I'm going to order some clip in buttons on Friday, but I want to make sure that I get the right ones.

Well, the encoder board was a bit messed up, so I just tore it out and I'm turning this into a MAME/PS2 controller. Just need some buttons and a new encoder board, and it will be good to go. I might add a Japanese coin slot for authenticity too if I can find one.

i have this exact stick too, if you're referring to the saturn twin virtua stick. hss-130

i have the exact problem. buttons sticking.

:(

the sticks are more or less in excellent shape though.

not a very technical person too and when i opened it up and realized they're not snap-ins ala the hori real arcade pros, i gave the idea up and it's sitting there unused.

had fun playing elevator action 2 on the saturn with my bro a few years back.

wiped it clean and plugged it into my dreamcast via the ems total control 3 adaptor (no input lag ftw!) and had some annoyance with buttons sticking.

oh well..

The sticks are real Seimitsu LS-32s, but the buttons are cheap rip-offs of the shallower Seimitsu buttons. I'm taking pics of this project just for the hell of it...I'll have some buttons from Lizard Lick this week.

I'm having some trouble deciding on which encoder board to use, but the Ultimarc Mini-Pac seems to be the best choice, especially because I can get a PS2 to Playstation converter for it and use it on almost every system I own.

Funny thing is that everyone says how crappy the Blaze Twin Stick is, but the even though the Virtua Stick has (far, far) better sticks, the buttons on the Blaze are actually a bit better. They have a shorter throw and they don't stick.

Hello, new around here.

I've recently ordered a Virtua Stick Pro (hss 0130) and although I will only be using it on my saturn to start with i may eventually use it on something else, maybe just my dreamcast and possibly pc.

you mentioned you are taking pictures of your mod, i'm curious as to how these units are laid out inside (the pictures in the link posted above don't show much detail of internal spaces etc)

i'm not sure whether to just buy external adapters or mod it properly and would appreciate any pictures that may help me decide if its going to be easy.

Thanks
