Hi,

I picked up a copy of King of Fighters 2000 MVS which was sold as having a graphics fault. The game loads and plays fine with normal sound BUT from the Neo splash screen onwards the graphics and sprites have verticle lines through them.

I opened the cart and gave everything a thorough clean with alcohol. A load of dirt came off but the problem's still there. It looks like a genuine SNK cart to me.

Any advice?

Thanks.

Got any pictures of the boards.

I forget what KOF it is 00 or 01 ..but one of them have the two high socketed chips that hit the inside of the case when closing, this causing graphic problems..

No pics of the boards yet, will try and get some up soon. One board does have a double mounted chip but this doesn't touch the case, just close to the back of the other board.

Thanks.

On the double mounted chips cart I had..Once the case was closed ,, the chip was being pressed on by the inside of the case, under the vents..I had to shave the inside of the case at that point to relieve it as it was causing the board to bend and warp(oter had to do the same)...it wasn't much but enough to cause an issue. and the game felt way too tight when sliding in the motherboard..
My game carts have to have a bit of board wobble inside the cases or they just don't work right..They have to slide in the motherboard real smooth..If they slide in too tightI know something is wrong..

The cart is a bit tight in the slot. I'll try to see if there's pressure on that area of the board.

As for reseating the chips. They all look well soldered in place. I don't fancy trying to re-solder them all until I've elminated all else.

There's a resistor soldered directly to one of the contacts on the finger board. It's the first MVS cart I've had like that, it looks pretty messy.

Thanks.

You may want to loosen the 4 screws a tiny bit to get some loosness then try to see how it slides in the mobo..Just make sure the screws don't fall out..
Also,if a games contacts aren't cleaned spotless it'll feel tight, griddy when sliding in the mobo..
I know then that a cart I know works is dirty..once cleaned it slids in nice

Cleaning=red industial scotch brite(dry) and 91%alcohol.

The resistor may be a repair or bad repair..it may be causing the issue..
If you need me to host the pictures for you let me know

Hi Chris,

I've taken some photos. If you could host them that would be great. Where shall I send them?

You must be thinking of 2k1. It has two EPROMs in a socket.

It looks like a genuine SNK cart to me.
Just some advice, you should study some of the boot pages more. This one was an obvious boot.
