forgive me if this has been posted before. I'm curious what peoples favourite neo geo fighting game series is (since there's a LOT of them). My favourites in order are...

1: samurai showdown
2: world heroes
3: king of monsters

1. Samurai Showdown
2. Fatal Fury
3. King of Fighters

I haven't played King of Monsters 2, but I didn't like the original at all.

1) Samurai Shodown - the only continuing series that hasn't really gone effeminate. My love for KOF would decrease year after year as the characters devolved from cheesy-80's-action-flick-style macho brawlers, to fancy-pants girly boys.

2) Fatal Fury - no metrosexuals here either, but alas this series is as dead as Geese Howard himself, and I don't trust SNKP to resurrect it.

3) Last Blade - I never liked the character designs for this game, but damn if the animations and BG's aren't purty.

Best Neo Geo fighting series:
1. Samurai Shodown
2. Last Blade
3. King of Fighters
4. Fatal Fury/MOTW
5. Art of Fighting
6. World Heroes
7. Savage Reign, Kizuna Encounter
8. Breakers, Breakers Revenge
Fighter's History Dynamite was the 2nd in a series, but only one of the games was on Neo. I was looking at series with more than game on Neo. Aren't Ragnagard and Fight Fever one shots?

I'm proud of you for not mentioning Wuh... wuh wuh wuhrl. Wuhrld... hi hi..

UGH. I can't even bring myself to say it.

Anyway, I'm proud of you Kid.

World Heroes!

Of which, you, yourself, has admitted to liking World Heroes 2 on SNES!

This heresy stood under the reign of Neo Pope Kawasaki in the church of Neo Dio!

I, however, am not such an avatar!

Writhe!

WORLD HEROES is pretty far up the list of what follows, to be honest. WORLD HEROES 2 and WORLD HEROES Perfect are two of the most fun games on the system for me. But every series including KOF, Samurai Shodown and WORLD HEROES is miles behind Fatal Fury for me.

And when I say "Fatal Fury," I mean excluding Mark of the Wolves. I'd rather play WORLD HEROES Perfect or WORLD HEROES 2 over MotW pretty much any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I dunno really, gameplay wise, its gotta be KOF, but the fact is that the character designs are fucking gay and the graphics are the ass of the ass. Then theres samurai shodown, first three games are legendary, but it quickly fell to shit afterwards. Character design, graphics, sound, settings, atmosphere are all perfect. Gameplay is, well, interesting. Enjoyable. best fighters on the machine are ss2, kof98, and garou. Don't bother collecting any 1 series, none of them shine from A-Z.

so it doesn't qualify...??

It's an entity. It's own series.

It's still on the Neo system.

Granted, there aren't any sequels. But it's there.

It boils down to how you define a series.

If a series is 1 or <, I should think it qualifies a series on the system.
If you insist a series is only greater than one entry, than no, Waku Waku 7, Fight Fever, Galaxy Fight, Ranagard, & Karnov's Revenge do not count. (Even including other Karnov games on other systems) (et. al)--Because, there isn't more than one entry on the system queried.

That is a question to be answered by the thread starter.

1: Fatal Fury/MOTW
2: Samurai Shodown
3: Power Instinct (Matrimelee)*

*Not sure if Matrimelee counts, it's the only Power Instinct game on the system but it does come from a real series.

Last Blade and KOF 2K are good but I haven't played them enough to really say one way or the other. =/

1. Last Blade
2. KoF
3. Fatal Fury

Never got into Samurai Shodown very much. SS1 was cool, and I adore SS2, but the following games never did much for me personally.

1. Samurai Shodown - My avatar should have made this # 1 choice obvious!
2. World Heroes - Stealing and mangling a quote from Transformers Animated's Lugnut, "I will not hide! I will stand my ground and shout World Heroes to the heavens!"
3. Art of Fighting - Gotta show love for the series that gave us the invincible dragon and the raging tiger.

Honorable mention.

King of Fighters - As far as team based fighters go, few have been as much fun as this series.

Galaxy Fight - Waku Waku 7 - Astra Superstars

I believe.

They are three separate (One Shot) games.

Same team-o-people.

I wouldn't call them story-interwoven by any stretch.
